TEMS Investigation
Preparing TEMS
Drive Test Introduction
What is Drive Test?

Drive testing is the most common and one of the best way to analyze Network performance by
means of coverage evaluation, system availability, network capacity, network retain-ability and call
quality.

Drive Test provides huge perspective to the service provider about whats happening with a
subscriber point of view (Downlink only)

It basically collecting measurement data with an equipment phone (TEMS, NEMO, Probe) such
as:
For 2G:
RXLEV, RXQUAL, FER, SQI, C/I, TA, C1, C2, 6 list of the strongest neighbor list,
And for 3G:
Scrambling Code (SC), UARFCN DL, CPICH Ec/No and CPICH RSCP, TxPower, UTRA
Carrier RSSI,

For this discussion session, we will talk about Drive Test using TEMS Investigation

Presentation Information
Serving and Neighbors
Shows information such as: Cellname (as update in cell file),
BSIC, BCCH/ARFCN, RxLev, C1, C2 and six of the strongest
RxLev neighbors

Radio Parameters
Shows current radio information such as: RxLev, RxQual, FER,
BER, C/I, TA

Current Channel
Shows information for current channel being used: CGI, BSIC,
BCCH, Time Slot, Hopping Channel, MAIO
Preparing TEMS: Workspace (2G)
Presentation Information
C/A
Shows information of level interference from adjacent frequency
signal

C/I
Shows level ratio between information bits at signal carrier
signal and information bits at interference signal.
This happen because carrier and interference signal using the
same frequency

Line Chart
Shows current radio information such as: RxLev, RxQual, SQI,
FER, in graph (line/bar graph)

Presentation Information
WCDMA Serving/Active Set + Neighbors
Shows list of Active Set/Serving Cell (AS), Monitored Neighbors (MN),
Detected Neighbors (DN).
Shows radio information for each list, such as: Cell name, Scrambling
Code, Cell ID, UARFCN DL, CPICH Ec/No and CPICH RSCP

WCDMA Radio Parameters

Shows current radio parameters, such as: TxPower, UTRA Carrier
RSSI, Target SIR, SIR, SQI MOS and RRC State.

Events
Shows all event that occurred during Drive Test.
It very useful to analyze important event such as:
Drop Call or Missing Intra-frequency Neighbors by
looking to this window

Exporting Log files

After doing a drive test, log files need to be analyze

So, for that purpose, we need to export log file into
another files (such as: *.mif or *.tab) to make log files
easy to reported and analyze.
