INTRODUCTION
AMUL was formed in 1946 as a dairy co-operative movement in India.
Amul came from the sanskrit word Amulya which means Priceless.
It is managed by Gujrat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).
Amul spurred India's White Revolution under the leadership of Dr. V. Kurien, which
made the country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.
Amul is the largest food brand in India.
Amul is worlds largest pouched milk brand and worlds biggest vegetarian cheese
brand.
UNIQUE FACTORS (USP)
Today, Amul is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat.
The Amul Model is a three-tier cooperative structure.
This structure was evolved at Amul in Gujarat and thereafter replicated all over the
country under the Operation Flood programme. It is also known as the 'Anand
Model.
Unique hoarding advertisement relating to day-to-day issues. It has earned a
Guinness world record for the longest running ad campaign in the world.
