Utility System Fire Fighting/Fire Water

BANGGAI AMMONIA PLANT PROJECT

OUTLINE

Introduction

Spec of Equipment

PFD

Process Description
INTRODUCTION

The fire fighting system will be designed based on the

assumption that there will only be a single major fire
scenario at a time in the Facility and that fire will not
occur simultaneously at different places.
INTRODUCTION

Fire protection system consist of:

PROCESS DESCRIPTION

The fire water is supplied from Sea Water Reverse

Osmosis (SWRO) which stored at Fire Water Tank (2501-
F). A dedicated inventory in the tank will be reserves for
fire fighting scenario with capacity for six (6) hours of
maximum fire water demand equivalent to 2724 m3.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Two (2) jockey pumps (2503-J/JA) motor driven with

rated capacity of 10 m3/hr, one in operation and another
as spare will be provided for the facility. The jockey
pump will run continuously to maintain the firewater
main pressure. A minimum flow line already available in
discharge each jockey pump.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION

One (1) motor driven fire water pump (2501-J) and one
(1) diesel engine fire water pump (2502-J) will be
provided. Each pump is capabe of supplying 100% of the
maximum fire water demand of the Facility (rated
capacity is 454 m3/hr).
The diesel driven fire water pump will be provided with
a dedicated diesel fuel tank while the motor driven
pump will be supplied from the normal power supply.
OPERATING PHILOSOPHY

Fire Water Tank level is controlled by LIC-2501 to modulate

opening of LV-2501.
Fire water Tank (2501-F) also has level monitoring which is
indicated by LI-2513 at DCS completed with alarm High (90 %),
Low (20 %), and Low-low (10 %).
Jockey Pumps (2503-J/JA) can be operated through their
own PLC (manual/auto) or remote start from DCS (start
permissive to PLC).
In normal operation, Jockey Pumps (2503-J/JA) will be run
continuously (one operate, one standby) by auto mode and
remote start permissive. During this mode, operator has
capability to start standby Jockey Pump (either 2503-J or 2305-
JA) from DCS.
OPERATING PHILOSOPHY
Standby Jockey Pump shall be run also if the operated one is stop/trip in
any condition. There is minimum flow line for each pump to protect
Jockey Pump during low load operation due to standby pressure at
fire water main ring.
In case of fire, fire fighting equipment will use fire water from main
ring, so that the fire water line pressure will continue to decrease until
reach low setting pressure (the value will be finalized after VPC fire
water pump release) which is measured by PT-2505, then it will auto
start Motor Driven Fire Water Pump (2501-J).
In case pressure keeps decreasing and reaches low-low setting
pressure which is measured by PT-2501, then another Fire Water
Pump (2502-J; Engine Driven) will be automatically started.
If Motor Driven Fire Water Pump (2501-J) run, it only can be
stopped from its own PLC.
