Arduino-based Automated

Electric Scooter
I. Introduction
Background of the study
Many vehicle or motorcycle shops retail conventional electric
scooter. All of the electric scooters use the throttle to rev up. But using
the throttle causes hand numbness. The researchers thought of a way to
change the conventional way of using the electric scooter to ease its use
and to lessen the occurrence of the hand numbness.

The main aim of the project is to develop an automatic speed

controller system and to implement a touch screen information
display for an electric scooter to be used in a school campus. The
microcontroller will control the speed by controlling the motor of the
electric scooter. The system will give information about the electric
scooters speed, and battery life.
I. Introduction
Statement of the Problem

Hand numbness is usually caused by damage,

irritation or compression of one of the nerves or a
branch of one of the nerves in the arm and wrist.
This occurrence is surprisingly prevalent among
riders. The researchers thought of a way to lessen
the occurrence of hand numbness while riding the
electric scooter.
I. Introduction
Objectives of the Study

The primary objective of this project is to develop an

Arduino based automated electric scooter. The specific
objectives of the project are:
To automate the electric scooter using touchscreen
applications.
To control the speed of the electric scooter using
Arduino by controlling the DC motor.
To test the functionality of the system and gather results.
I. Introduction
Significance of the Study

The result of the study will greatly benefit

the campus, college of engineering, faculty,
students, and future researchers of the school.
I. Introduction
Locale of the Study

The study will be conducted on the 1st

semester of the school year 2017-2018 at the
College of Engineering, Cagayan State University
Carig Campus, Tuguegarao City.
I. Introduction
Scope and Delimitation
There will be 1 or 2 passengers of the electric scooter.
The weight limit capacity of the electric scooter is 250 300 lbs.
The electric scooter is rechargeable in AC power only.
The electric scooter is not capable of solar charging.
The battery is 48v 12ah lead acid or lithium.
It will take 6 8 hours to fully charge the battery of the electric scooter.
The top speed of the electric scooter is only 25 30 kph.
The maximum range of travel is 18 20 miles per charge of the battery.
The DC motor is a high speed brushless 350W.
The breaks of the electric scooter will not be tampered.
The speed of the electric scooter is also dependent on the steepness of
the uphill and downhill of the terrain.
