This is the machine to carry out the countersinking operation
on the Surgical suture needle blanks, after they have been
straightened, cut to length and annealed at one end, to
facilitate the next operation i.e end drilling. Machine is

Completely automatic with auto loading system feeding needle
blankk into a 'V' Block and locked in place by a gripper. The Drill
bit, which rotates at high speed enters the needle end and
drilling is completed.
The Drilling spindle is high frequency spindle with maximum
RPM of 24,000 and the linear movement is by servomotor
actuated absll screws and nut. All the parameters can be set by
means of a HMI.
After drilling the drillbit retracts, gripper opens and drilled
needle is ejected and cycle continues.
The drilling sequence is as follows: 1. Fast approach 2.. Slow
drill movement for 70 % of drill depth required. 3. Dead slow
movement for remaining 30% depth. This ensures safety oif
drill bit and optimum cycle time.

This machine is to impart Triangular profile along the body of
needles which are to be used as cutting needles.This is a
completely automatic machine with autoloading and unloading
system. The needles are loade in a chute from where they are
carried into the machine and placed into the V groove of a DIe.
The top Ram carrying the top punch comes down and presses
the needle into the groove and the needle round is coined into
a triangular profile. When the ram again moves up, the feeder
pushes the next needle into the die, thus ejecting out the
Coined needle which is collected in a bim

It is a 6 station progressive operation machine where 5 needles
are processed at a time- 3 grinding +1 Loading+1 unloading)The
needles are progressively ground in 3 stages(
Roughing,finishing and Polishing) The machine has a turntable
with collets mounted on it along the periphery and 3 grinding
heads fixed aligned to the indexing positions. In operation,
when the grinding is taking place loading and unloading takes
place,and for every indexing the needle undergoes subsequent
operation andthus after the 5th indexing, for every indexing,
one finished needle comes out. Turn table is actuated by servo
controlled gear box which ensures indexing accuracy,and
grinding heads are actuated by pneumatic cylinders. The Tip
angle can be adjusted by swivelling the grinding heads to the
required angle.

The Machine is a 12 Station progressive grinding Machine. The
1st Station is loadingstation and the the 11th is unloading. The
intervening 9 stations are divided into 3 stages of 3 stations
each. First is roughing , 2nd is finishing and 3rd is polishing. As
each fac of the Triangle passes through these stations it gets
completely ground. As it enters the second stage, the needle
turns 120 degrees, thus exposing the 2nd face of the triangular
profile which is ground. The process is repeated in the 3rd
Stage also and by the time the needle enters the 11th station is
fully finished and it is removed from the Collet and the Collet is
ready for loadin for the next needle. Thus, from the 11th
indexing, one completed Needle is obtained.
