What is Deaf and Hard of Hearing?

-Hearing loss can be caused by:

Being born with the impairment


Developing the impairment
Having conductive hearing loss
Having sensorineural hearing loss

-The Canadian Association of the Deaf recognizes a person to be deaf when that
person has little or no functional hearing and depends of visual rather than

-Cannot hear well enough to use hearing as a primary channel for learning

1) Find a partner
2) Assign one person to have earplugs, headphones (with or
without music) and if possible have both earplugs and
headphones
3) When your partner is ready the speaker can say a
sentence
4) If you are not the speaker you are trying to guess what is
being said to you
