Why Soccer/Futbol is

Better Than American

Football
 Attention Getter
As we may know, American football is Americas top number one
sport. Football is the heart of America, many people sit in a Buffalo
Wild Wings, eat wings, and drink a beer while watching their
favorite football teams play. Yes, football is famous and involves a
lot of action and gives an adrenaline rush, but there is one sport
that provides a lot of action but also an intense adrenaline rush and
it is looked down upon in America. What sport are we talking
about? It is the so called Beautiful Game by many people world
wide, which is Soccer or futbol.
 Credibility
I have been working on this topic Since March of
of my junior year. I personally like to play soccer
and I have watched it for a long time, so I know
how it feels to get the adrenaline rush and
excitement. I have also watched football a few
times and its not my favorite sport, but I still
like to play it. I don't like to watch it much due
to many reasons.
 Topic Selection
The reason I chose this topic is because although
both sports are fun to play for many people in the
United States, there is one that seems to have the
edge and favor of many people, and that is
football. So I have a lingering question, Why is it
that Football, a sport that involves dangerous
interaction, that involves fatal injuries, and whose
entertainment is always paused by commercials,
top Soccer?
 Research Findings
During this research, I came to meditate on how
much sports can bring people together, even the
worst enemies. Also I discovered how football is
not only played in America, but it is also played
internationally.
Soccer Receives More Viewership
(Tournaments, Games etc.)
Soccer tournaments are not only largely
broadcasted worldwide, but also in the U.S.
Tournaments such as the Copa America
received 2.29 Million views in 2016. Another
Tournament that received major viewership was
the FIFA World Cup, which received 3.2 Billion
views in 2014 according to FIFA.com
comparing to the Super Bowl in 2016 that only
received 167 Million views in the U.S
Soccer Receives More Action and
Is More Entertaining
Soccer displays great skills from individual players. Football is
entertaining as well, but there is only one problem in my opinion,
and that is that it has too many commercial breaks. Soccer
consists of only one commercial break unless it goes into
overtime, but Football has constant commercial breaks that it
makes it less entertaining to watch. Jeremiah Delgado on CBS
Sports states the same thing. Soccer has 2 halves, each 45
minutes. During those 2 halves, both teams are displaying
various playing styles. On the other hand, American Football
uses plays that are pre-made and that every single team uses to
play.
Women/Male Youths With More
Adventurous Opportunities
Soccer allows non-professional youths to travel internationally for
competition. Depending on the quality and skill of the club, they
will have chances on traveling to countries like Spain, England,
Argentina and more. Football on the other hand allows youths to
travel only in the U.S. There are professional women players that
win trophies such as the FIFA World Cup, which was won by
the Women's U.S National team in 2015. In Football, there is no
professional tournaments for female football players, which can
probably make them upset.
 Personal Experiences
Throughout my time creating this research paper, I
was determined to prove my point, but as I
researched more, I came to learn that American
Football isnt a sport to give no credit to, as in
other countries, they also play it. During the time
creating my product, I saw that athletes are always
ambitious in winning, I saw a constant competitive
spirit and this is always involved in sports both
Soccer and Football.
 Overview of Product
My product consists of 5 interviews in one video, which
includes school athletes and a coach. Also I created a
survey in which people in school can take. I choose this
product because it involved interacting more with peoples
opinions and experiences.
 Impact of Graduation Project
This graduation project helped me to be more
punctual or in other words, doing everything
correctly and completing everything before the
deadline.
Also it has helped me to realize that in the real
world, everything isnt going to go smoothly and
that we have to open our eyes and be alert,
because at a job, a boss or manager will not have
pity on us.
 Challenges and Obstacles

Some challenges I faced during the creation of

this project was trying to do everything correctly
with time ticking quickly, which was pressuring.
 Successful Moments
A successful moment I had during this project was
the completion of my hours. I felt a big relief and
also felt that my ability to handle responsibilities
grew.
 Concluding Thoughts: Personal
Growth

During this project, I came to see how

responsibility is very important, not only during
my youth, but during my future adult life, which
will be the rest of my life.
