The Origins of the Word Photography
In Greek, the word photo means light.

1826 Earliest Known Photograph
Taken by Joseph Nicphore of a view from a window.

1835 Calotype
Invented by William Henry Fox Talbot.
Is was used to create a negative image and it decreased the time
taken to to develop a photograph.

The first commercially successful photographic process.
Named after Louis Jacques Mand Daguerre the person that created
it.

1851 Wet Collodion Process
Invented by Fredrick Scott Archer.
It was a coating used to make sure that pictures became more water
resistant.
It also made the photos look clearer.

1861 Color Photography
The first color picture was taken using a three color method.
It was taken by Thomas Sutton.

1871 Dry Plate Photography
Was invented by Dr. Richard Maddox to improve the type of photographic
plate.
A photographic plate is used to capture the light and balance in a
photograph.

1888 Kodak Roll Film Camera
Invented by George Eastman to be used for non serious purposes.
It was a camera that any average person could use.

1935-2009 Kodachrome Film
Was invented by Eastman Kodak.
One of the first successful color and reversal films.
Was used for photography and cinematography.
Was used mostly for professional photography and was very complicated.

1948 Polaroid Instant Photography
The inventor was credited as Edward Land.
A camera that prints a paper version of the photo shortly after taking
the picture.
The picture shows the first instant polaroid camera.

1975 First Digital Camera
Was made by old used batteries, and parts from an old movie camera.
It weighed 8lbs and was invented by Steven Sasson.
It took 23 seconds to create and the playback images were put on a
TV.
