 ISSUE
At KM 34 on Abbottabad-Nathia Gali- Barrian Road, there is a open
parking plaza of GDA .
The space for Plaza was created by cutting the hillside which has
disturbed the natural stability of the hill slopes
The soil strata has started sliding away now due to this unstable hill slope
because of excessive rainfalls and weathering affects.
The Breast Wall constructed by GDA at back of Plaza (only 6 ft high) has
also undergone cracking due to movement and pressure of unstable soil
strata (Picture Annexed)
A No. of large trees on this slope have also become dangerous due to
sliding away of adjoining soil and there roots have got exposed now.

 ISSUE
The PCC road of GDA on top of the unstable slop has also cracked and
settled down (Picture Annexed)
There are a number of private residences and other buildings near this
location along the cracked PCC road. In case of land sliding at this point,
there is strong likelihood of huge damages to these buildings as well.
The land siding, if it happens, may also block the important road
connecting Abbottabad with Nathiagali and Murree due to falling of forest
trees
The rain water/surface runoff is also directed towards this location
adding to the vulnerability of the sliding strata
 SOLUTION

To construct a Breast wall in a height of almost 18M to retain and support

the unstable slope of that strata and counter the chances of land sliding.
The Retaining wall will be constructed in 3 steps each of 6 meter height
and 15 meter length.
Proper drainage system for rain water/surface runoff needs to be provided
to direct the water away from this location at a safe disposal point.
The approx. cost for carrying out the above remedial works is Rs. 3
