Overview
Study Area – Sina catchment.
 Sub-basin of Bhima
 Bhima is sub-basin of Krishna River
 Catchment Area = 12600 km2

 Length = 180 km.

 Highest point in watershed = 818 m
 Lowest point in watershed = 441 m

Methodology- Preprocessing
HRU Creation –
LULC Data
 Ref- waterbase.org
Soil Map
 Ref – FAO
(Food & Agriculture
Organization of UN)
 4 Soil types present in study

area
 Predominant Type - Clay

Rainfall Runoff Modelling by SWAT 10

Methodology- Preprocessing
HRU Creation –
Slope Map
 Extracted from DEM.
 More the slope classes, better the results.
Threshold
 Currently divided into 4 classes

Threshold Setting-
 Adjusting the threshold values for LULC,
Soil & Slope bands, number of HRUs
formed is adjusted.

Methodology- Preprocessing
HRU Creation –
Raster file of HRUs is
generated
A report in text format is
also generated containing
unique HRU no, soil type
and LULC .
Also its percentage to total
area is given.
HRUs are independent on
weather data.

Methodology- Preprocessing
Weather Data –
Main Input Parameters-
1. Precipitation
2. Relative Humidity
3. Temperature
4. Solar radiation
5. Wind speed
 Weather data input is
form 1965 to 2005.

Results & Conclusion
Site Selection for Check Dams
Location should be such that
the runoff at that sub-basin
should be maximum.
 Sub-basins with maximum
surface runoff are 7,6,2 resp.
Check dam location is
encircled in the map,
