Purpose of Ancillary tasks
 The purpose of the ancillary tasks was to show the symbolism of your short film
through the use of a film poster and a film review page. These two tasks had to be
done individually as we had use software's such as Photoshop CC 2016 to
construct our film poster and film review. This enabled us promote our short film
to the target audience in a professional manner, hence why I chose the option to
do a film poster and film review. In a sense this allowed our target audience to
get a glimpse of what our short film is yet to show.
Photoshop CC 2016
 Both my ancillary tasks had to be completed using this software. Photoshop CC 2016 was a very difficult
software to use since it was my first time utilising this software, but at the end I managed to use this
software with ease. This software allowed our ancillary tasks to be produced in a professional manner.
This software was very vital for me as I wanted my poster and film review to be so aesthetically pleasing
as, this will allow me to reach to our target audience and get some feedback. There were some issues
that I came across when using this software as I have mentioned earlier that I wasn’t able to familiarise
myself with this graphics editor since I had no experience in using this software, so the way I was bale to
overcome this issue was to do some background research on it and watch some tutorials videos in
YouTube. Thankfully this boosted my confidence into using Photoshop with no problems arising.
My Ancillary tasks
Film Review
 The first task I had to complete is a film review. A film review is designed to show
a clear interpretation of your shirt film and criticising what went well and good for
in the film. This was like a critical analysis of our short film. We had construct a
film review using photoshop we had follow a specific layout of our choice and
create it and we had to show detailed analysis of our short film and write in
paragraphs. The purpose behind a film review is to send a message to our target
audience hinting whether it would be worth watching the film or not. I decided to
put the Empire logo to make it stand out and look professional.

Images used in the film review

 I used this particular photo to show the symbolism of this strong image which will
initially depict which genre our film category lies in. This picture is so powerful
that it dictates many emotions the character is showing. This picture will grab
people’s attention as they will question the meaning behind our protagonist
portrayal. The image is good as it shows the character’s vulnerability and
powerless state.
Film Poster
 The film poster was a tool to show the key
aspects of our short film, the key things we had
to show is the ideal codes and conventions of
the genre, what colour scheme will go well
with your film and what fonts will you
incorporate to promote your genre. Before I
started this task I had to research similar genre
posters and get some inspiration behind this.
During this task I endured some issues such as
this was my first time making a film poster, so I
had to watch some tutorial videos to get used
to using this software, eventually I manged to
get the hang of it and managed to produce a
great piece of work.
 Fonts used
 In our production, the font we used for the name of our film ‘Bad Faith’ was vtks madalena.
This was because we thought that the font looked unique and it would help increase the
aesthetics of our production. The colour of the font we incorporated was white because this
contradicts to our film title Bad Faith as the colour white connotes the idea of freedom and
hope. Plus, if you look closely to the font there are some bits that not complete and this
shows the idea of it fading away likewise in our film the protagonist Amirah life fades away
as she loses total control of her life making her sink to her downfall. The title itself connotes
the idea of having bad luck, hence this is why we used this font as this font would be suited
for us to use for our production. We did not encounter any problems, as we knew what fonts
we were going to use from the beginning. However, getting this font was very difficult as this
was not available on the computer, that is why we had to look for a font ad thankfully we
managed to find one and download it onto our editing software.
 How did my ancillary task
compliment my final product?
 My ancillary tasks helped me to correspond with my final product as I had to find ways to
present and promote our film to our best of ability in order to maximise our target audience,
so this process took a very long time for me to invest in as I had to make sure I was able to
produce a master piece for my production group in order for us to be successful. The poster
showed the symbolism of our main character, which gives an indication that the story will
revolve around her, and the film review helps to give the target audience an insight to how
our film will appear to be and what there to expect.
 Conclusion
 Inconclusion, I believe that I did an excellent job in presenting both my ancillary
tasks in a grand fashion that it will reach out to my target audience, and I have
given key images and shown the real essence of what our short film will convey.
Both my ancillary tasks compliment my final end product as it conveys the themes
and narrative of what our short film is based on and since the fact that our short
film is drama will touch many people’s hearts as they will embark in a emotional
journey of Amirah Khan’s life. The colour scheme goes well with my ancillary tasks
as it shows hints o what emotions and feelings of what the film will show.
