History design and plants

GM released the first official images of the Cruze on August, 2008 at GM

Lordstown Assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio.

The Cruze was, "developed by a global design and engineering team and will
be built in multiple locations around the world".

•Tail lamps are integrated into the rear
corners and deck lid, a split-design
premium ; the design makes the vehicles
look more expensive. Transparent lenses
(red on top, white beneath) lead the eye to
bright finished bezels housing round lighting
elements with reflex crowns.
•An under glass, rear shelf-mounted CHMSL
that incorporates 12 light emitting diodes
(LED), which adds to the upscale statement
seen in the rear.

Rear park assist

•The rear park assist helps you park

the Cruze more easily. When the rear
end of the car is near an obstacle a
sound will be heard. The frequency of
the sound increases as the vehicle
comes closer to the obstacle.

The alarm system activates a horn and

the hazard lamps in case of door, trunk

The 6T40 six-speed A/T include:
•An innovative on-axis design that
translates to a shorter overall vehicle length
and more interior room inside Cruze.
•Clutch-to-clutch shift operation for added
precision and smoother shifts between
gears.
•A wide spread ratio. The first gear is a
very high ratio which provides brisk
acceleration from the top. Sixth gear is an
overdrive ratio which keeps the engine
revolutions as low as possible for highway
cruising and improved fuel economy.
•Low maintenance – premium fluid used in
this transmission need not be replaced
during normal use.

is mounted along the centerline of the
vehicle in the center console. It
receives input from sensors and
determines the severity and location of
the impact, then decides whether or
not to deploy the air bags and activate
the seatbelt pretensioners.

•Bumper systems are engineered to

require minimal repairs after front or
rear collisions. The front bumper is
positioned for optimum safety in the
event of a collision with an automobile.

•Seatbelt pretensioners are activated to prevent front seat

passengers from moving forward. Instead, they are pulled into
the seat buckets.
•To reduce the risk of injuries while being pulled backwards, the
retractors of the seat buckles are equipped with load limiters to
allow a controlled amount of release in the belt.

• Retractors for front seating positions have built-in load limiters to allow a controlled amount of
give in the belt, thereby reducing peak chest loadings in a severe accident. The retractors are
deployed by the SDM, firing a device that releases compressed gas to push a piston in the buckle
retractor to take slack out of the belt within 8 to 10 milliseconds, depending on the force of the
collision;
