DEFINITION
Formal meeting of the board of directors of an
organisation,held usually at definite intervals to
consider policy issues and major problems. It is
presided over chairperson(man or woman).
TYPES
1.REGULAR MEETINGS
Board tells time and place of meeting at
each fiscal year. Usually the board meets
once a month from august to June or third
Wednesday of the month.
2 .CLOSED MEETINGS
For considering any subjects which
can’t list in open meetings. No final Board
action will be taken here.
3. RESCHEDULED MEETINGS
meeting can be rescheduled due to different reasons.
Public notice is given wen rescheduled meetings are
conducted.

4. SPECIAL MEETINGS
These meetings are called by the Chairman or any three
members of the Board. maters discussed here will be related to
the agenda.

5. EMERGENCY MEETINGS
Notice of this meeting must be given speedy.
This occur at emergency situations.
IMPORTANCES

1. COMMUNICATING ON ALL LEVELS


 All board members must communicate effectively.
 Board members must get effective training for
communicating effectively.
2. ROLE OF THE CHAIRMAN
 He must set the overall tone in the meeting.
 He must manage agenda and facilitate discussion
between members by creating an open, supportive and
respectful atmosphere.
3. A CLEAR AGENDA
 Agenda must include input from every
member.
 Papers or documents for additional
discussion must be specified.
4. CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ALL
 All board members must contribute their
ideas and opinions in the meeting.
 All members must be confident enough to
put forward their ideas and ready to face
challenges if their colleagues disagree.
