Short Course Training

By :Ho. Abdirizak Jama Sh.Saed

Master of Arts Project Planning and
Management of Science (MPPM) &
PGD , Project Design M and E.
Makereer University
Objectives of Training :
 Understanding basic concept about Software
Package.
Understanding areas required SPSS in chapter
Three .
Defining basic content of chapter three such as
 Research Design.

 Research Population.

 Sample Size (Respondents of the Study).

 Sample Procedure.

 Research Instruments.
 Data Analysis.
Cont…
 Ethical Considerations.
 Limitation of the Study.
After we over the chapter guidelines and instructions
then we design the questionnaire format.
Thirdly, starting with practicing and applications of
software SPSS.
During the training of SPSS we shall focusing
these main areas such as :-
Cont…
 Data Coding.
 Data Editing.
 Data Analyzing.
 Data Presentation and finally.
 Data Interpretation.
Finally arranging final chapter’s chapter four
and chapter five thorough (Data analysis and
interpretations result).
Chapter three : Research Methodology
Be 4 we go underneath (SPSS) we must explain
and understand how chapter three related with
the software package , where and when and
how .
Then create r/ship between the software
package and chapter three .
Even further defining and explaining how other
chapter related with the software package.
Cont…
 Lets see the chapter contents :-
 Research Design
 As researcher in the research design proper design you
select must be descriptive correlation design which
means in order to make comparison between the IV
and DV during the investigation. For example :
Cont…
 For example :
 This study will employ a descriptive
correlation and ex-post facto research design
using mainly a quantitative approach. The
cross-sectional correlation design is a
research design where the researcher strives to
establish the relationship the independent
variable and dependent variable through
quantifiable results
Cont…
 Therefore, the descriptive correlation
design will enable the researcher to
determine the degree of the relationship
exists between the your IV and DV for
example , leadership behavior and
organizational effectiveness in selected
universities in Punt land State of Somalia.
Research Population

 In the research population first you most

named the organizations that you are doing
research which means unit analysis , secondly
define the total population of your study as
number, define also type of your respondent
organization have involved different people
such as employee , managers , customers etc
so you most define who is your respondent
those are the people you select and major
reason that you select that people . For
example
Cont…
 For example : Research Population
 During the study the researcher selected only 2
universities in punt land from currently more
than 5 universities working in punt land .
 The population of this study was comprised
only the employees in both universities
which consists a population of 151.The major
reason for selecting this type of people from the
others was due to the facts that the
researcher expected them to have a very good
understanding the leadership behavior and
organizational effectiveness.(problem )
Sample Size
 Remember research population and sample
size are completely differ , research
population just related the whole number of
your study means total population while the
sample size its only the number of target
people means exactly respondent of your study
using by well popular formula called
Slovene’s Formula to get the sample size the
number of your respondent . For example ;-
Cont..
 Out of the total population of 151, while a
sample size of 109 was selected, using
Slovene’s formula. The sample is sufficiently
high and representative enough to validate the
findings, so the findings of this study can be
replicated the whole population.
Cont…
 Slovene’s Formula n = N/1+N(e2)
Where, n= sample; N=target population;
α=constant variable: equivalent to 0.05.
 n = N/1+N(e2)
 = 151
 --------
 1+151(0.0025)
 = 151
 -------
 1.377
 =109
Sample Procedure
 There are so many different sample procedures
including , stratified, purposive and simple
random sampling these procedures have various
uses , during the research the best sample
procedure which suppose to use is simple
random sampling because Simple Random
Sampling is the techniques which equivalent to
restorer and it is situation by which all
respondent have got equal chance of being
selected , and it have two conditions this
procedure.
1. There most be availability of list all
respondent of researcher .
2. Researcher most be able if respondent can
accessed form one place .
Research Instruments
Researcher must know the different types of
tools to collect data , but its compulsory to use
three main tools those are
1. Face sheet – was used to collect on the profile
of the respondent. (Obj1).
2. Questionnaires A – focused on the
independent variable IV .(Obj2).
3. Questionnaires B – focused on the
dependent variable DV. (Obj3). other
questionnaire focused on the dependent
variable that is, organizational effectiveness.
Cont….
For example The implementation of this study
was used questionnaire as the main tool to
collect data. The study employed three research
tools, the face sheet which was used to collect
data on the profile of respondents; and two
research made questionnaires, one
questionnaire focused on the independent
variable, that is leadership behavior , and the
other questionnaire focused on the dependent
variable that is, organizational effectiveness.
Data Analysis
The researcher will use of Statically Package for
Social Science (SPSS) as a tool for analyzing the
data The study will employ
frequencies and percentages to analyze the
profile of respondents (Obj1) as seen
appropriately Secondly, the researcher will use
means to analyze the extent that the level of
leadership behavior used and the level, of
organizational effectiveness in selected
universities in Punt land State of Somalia
(Obj2).
Cont…
Thirdly, the researcher will use Pearson’s
correlation co-efficient to analyze the
relationship between level of leadership quality
and organizational effectiveness in selected
universities in Punt land State of Somalia
(Obj3) .
Limitation of the Study

 In research limitation mainly you focuses the

challenges that you have meet during the
investigation The researcher will expect a number
of limitations including:
 The English knowledge of some respondents is not
fair so that their responding may be not adequate
to the intention of the researcher, so the researcher
will have to translate the un understandable
sections of the questionnaire into Somali language.
Cont..
The researcher will face that some of the
respondents will not answer the questionnaire
properly or correctly because they think if they
response fully the, may under value their
organization.
Since top management and staff with busy
schedules are part of the respondents, the
researcher will not get as much time from them
as anticipated.
Time / duration of investigation ….etc
