INTRODUCTION
•Hydrocele testis was described as early as the 15th century by
ambroise Pare, and is defined as an abnormal collection of serous fluid
in the space between the parietal and visceral layers of the tunica
vaginalis, termed the cavum peritoneum scroti.
•Hydrocele is the most common cause of painless nonacute scrotal
swelling in men.
•in children, the main cause of hydrocele is a congenital patent
processus vaginalis, which allows the transfer of fluid between the
peritoneal and tunical cavities.
•adult hydroceles are generally acquired and, in the majority of cases,
idiopathic in origin.
•Both etiologies are possible in adolescents; the hydrocele can be
caused by a patent processus vaginalis that has remained silent until
puberty, or can appear de novo
