DEFECTS OF VISION

• Near-sightedness
• Cannot see distant object distinctly
• Can see near object clearly
• Image of distant object is formed in-front
of retina and not at retina
Myopia may rise due to
 Excessive curvature of the eye lens
or
 Elongation of the eye ball
Using CONCAVE LENS with
suitable power
• Far-sightedness
• Can see distant objects clearly
• Cannot see nearby object
distinctly
• Near point is beyond 25cm
• Image formed behind the retina
Far-sightedness arise either
because of
a) The focal length of eye lens is
too long or
b) Eye ball has become too small
Using a CONVEX LENS of
appropriate power
