• Pro-active : wants to coach a team no one wants


to coach.
• Not an agreeable personality: he doesn’t agrees
to team pressure or management to change his
mind.
• Risk taking attitude : Takes a challenge to coach
the team , at a crucial point he decides to make
his team play against the men’s team.
• Persistence : he fights for all the options
available., urges his team to fight till the end.

• Task identity : he has a clear idea of the task in hand- to
make a TEAM from a GROUP.
• Task significance: eagerness to coach an underdog
team instead of an established team.
• Understands the ability of the team members and
allocates role accordingly.
• Understands the issues in the team: like differences in
culture (Punjab – Jharkhand); senior junior conflict (
Bindya-Mary); low level of agreeableness of Bindya,
from a neutral position. He makes use of coercive and
legitimate power to solve conflicts.
• He tries to improve the group cohesion and
thereby improving the group functioning.
• He uses his legitimate powers to give extreme
training (physical stress test) to the team.-using
extreme measures for team building.

in the team.

nayak at the right time. He has an integrative
bargaining with her so that she can play and also the
team can make use of her experience to win.

issues in the team.- he creates a stage for
preethi and komal to sought out their conflicts
before the finals.
• Good communication with his team captain-
uses effective non verbal communication to
transfer an important information to her
making it easy for her to take a very important
decision.
Motivator
• Self motivator – self efficacy theory- he keeps himself
motivated at his bad times that he helps himself and
others (his mother, team, support staff) to move on.
• Sets goals for the team- training standards are set so
that they work towards achieving it and creates a goal
to win the championship.
• He shares his expectancy about the team with the
team- he expects the team to do well against the men’s
team.
• He showcased transformational leadership through
emotional appeals to the team before the finals.
