INTRODUCTION
This seminar discuss about frictionless Compressor technology.
This technology is designed and optimized take full advantage of magnetic
bearing technology.
 A digitally controlled magnetic bearing system consisting of both permanent
magnets and electro-magnets, replaces conventional lubricated bearings.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING UNIVERSAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE 3

OBJECTIVES
Traditional centrifugal compressors use roller bearings and hydrodynamic bearings.
Which consume power and require oil and a lubrication system
By using frictionless technology prevent the lubrication of the bearings and the
maintenance cost and pollution decreases.

ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Advantages
COP of system increases
Lubrication is not required
Avoiding oil-management systems means avoiding the capital cost of oil
pumps, sumps, heaters, coolers, and oil separators, as well as the labour and time
required to perform oil- related services.
Maintenance costs have been cut by more than 50%

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING UNIVERSAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE 15

Disadvantages
cleaning of electronic boards .
changing of capacitors every 5 years

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING UNIVERSAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE 16

CONCLUSION
frictionless compressor technology offers economic, energy and environmental
benefits
It is energy efficiency, eliminating oil and control oil and much less weight, noise
and vibration.
This compressor has a high reliability, efficiency, lower maintenance costs and
staff.
