What is Tourism

 the activity or practice of touring, especially for pleasure.

 the business or industry of providing information, accommodations, transportation,

and other services to tourists.

 the promotion of tourist travel, especially for commercial purposes.

 Tourism- Definition

 Tourism is the activities of people traveling to and staying in places outside their
usual environment for leisure, business or other purposes for not more than one
consecutive year
Tourism Categories
TOURISM INCLUDES:

1. Outbound Tourism

Outbound tourism is what you may be most familiar with. It involves the people going from India to other
provinces, territories or countries.
For example, An Indian going to Singapore for a holiday is considered outbound tourism.

The tourists coming to India from other places are called inbound tourists.
For example, a British National coming to India to visit GOLDEN TRIANGLE is
considered inbound tourism.

 It is a major source of revenue for the country

Domestic tourism is tourism involving residents of one country traveling only within that country.
For example- A person from Gujarat travelling to Kerala.

 Lodging can be marketed individually or as a part of holiday package

A tourist’s choice of transport would depend on the travel budget, destination, time,
