UNIT 16

GAS PRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
 Gas is available in reservoir under pressure and it can flow naturally to the
surface.
 For domestic consumption purified gas can be piped to customer directly.
For overseas shipment it must be liquefied.
 The field process is actually also a plant process.
 A gas well stream is generally mixture of many hydrocarbon compounds,
water vapor, solid contaminants, and undesired gas such as CO2 and H2S.
 Separation is the main part of the field process.
 The maximum allowable vapor contains in the gas delivered to the LNG
plant is 20 gallons per MMSCF.
 Dehydration can be done by adsorption using dry desiccant or absorption
using glycol.
 At the LNG plant the gas still goes through another series of process to
remove the remaining water heavy hydrocarbon and undesired gas such as
CO2 and H2S.

TO SHUT DOWN A PLANT
 Reinjection the associated gas because the associated gas
contains less condensate compared to gas-well gas. We put
it on priority because we need to condensate to blend our
heavy crude.
 The other reason is because by injecting gas into the oil
production zone we maintain the oil reservoir pressure.
 This facilities is safety, this plant is well protected. The
sophisticated equipment can detect any irregularity in the
operation, fire protection system is all automatic.
 The water content of the gas we have to keep it bellow 20
lbs/mmcf. Its equivalent with dew point 34 degrees.
 Dew point is the temperature at which value the water vapor
in a gas stream begins to liquefy at 14.7 psia.
SAY IT IN OTHER WORDS
1. On behalf of Dynoco Indonesia.
2. Give you a better picture.
3. Well keep increasing in number.
4. The gas are not economically good for production.
5. We are in good shape to double our production.
6. Gas-well gas also called rich gas
7. This plant is well protected.
8. The fire station is just next door with fireman standing.
9. Let the gas flow to he atmosphere.
10. They will shutdown automatically.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORST
1. The red shutdown button must be more to
protect with a transparent cap because the
button is so crucial.
2. The red shutdown button is not too serious
than the shutdown valve when its doesn’t
work.
3. The problem when the shutdown valve is
didn’t work is the actuator is stuck, and cant
be actuated for years.
