 October 2008: WP on Sovereign Development Funds:
“Should SWFs allocate 10% of their portfolio to other
emerging and developing economies over the next
decade, this could generate inflows of USD 1 400 billion:
a yearly amount higher than all OECD countries
development aid put together.”

African Economic Outloook 2009: A reference for world leaders

 March 2009: AEO 2009 growth projections used in paper submitted to G-20
Sherpas by the Committee of African Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors
ahead of the G-20 summit in April in London

 June 2009: During Africa Day ceremony at the Italian Presidency in Rome,
President of the African Union and Dean of African Ambassadors to Italy used AEO
figures (rather than IMF figures) to illustrate their arguments

 June 2009: Request by Italian G-8 Sherpa for briefing note on implications of ICT
for development with recommendations on investment and regulations, for
distribution to Ministers and Heads of States during the G-8 and for possible
inclusion in the G-8 declaration

 June 209: At the AEO launch in Addis Abeba, the head of the ICT division of the
African Union requested inputs and data to be used at the next African Union Heads
of State Meeting, the focus of which will be on ICT

 February 2008: The Centre finds the claim that China is “free riding” on Western debt relief efforts to be unfounded and
suggests a more flexible debt sustainability framework.

 March 2009: The Centre argues that the crisis will affect developing countries through unexpected channels and suggests
strengthening South-South linkages.

 April 2009: The London G20 Summit Communiqué states that participants had “agreed to review the flexibility of the Debt
Sustainability Framework”.
