Computer Interaction
 CHAPTER 2 : The Design Process
 CHAPTER 3 : Evaluation Techniques
 CHAPTER 4 : Universal Design
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 Identify the concept of user interface
design to elevate technical complexity for
usable product that accepted by user. (C3,
PLO1)
 Organize a various styles of interfaces
interaction of software and hardware
products (P3, PLO2)
 Develop appropriate interface design and
evaluation techniques for an interactive
system effectively in real life. (P4, A4,

What is Human Computer
Interaction

“Human-computer interaction is a discipline

学科 concerned关心 with the design,
evaluation评价 and implementation of
interactive computing systems for human
use and with the study of major
phenomena现象 surrounding周围 them”
Human
Humans are limited in their capacity容量 to process
information. This has important implications for Design
Information is received and responses given via a number of
input and output channels:
• Visual 视觉 Channel
• Auditory 听觉 Channel
• Handtic Channel
• Movement运动
Information is stored in memory:
• Sensory Memory感官记忆
• Short-term(Working) Memory 短期(工作)记忆
• Long-Term Memory 长期记忆

Computer
There is not much difference in Human and
Computer
Computer consist of
• Input Devices
• Output Devices
• Memory
• Processing

Computer can be Mobile, Spacecraft Cockpit,

Microwave Oven or VCRs etc.
“HCI is about how to allow humans and computers
to interact toward some common goal.”
Humans and computers are similar in that they both:
1. receive input;
2. produce output; and
3. process information in between.

The Importance of User
Interface Design
 The user interface may be the only contact that
the user has with the system.
 the interface is the system designer's way of
representing the system to the user; this is called a
conceptual model
 if the interface is confusing混乱, then the user may
chose not to use the system at all or will use it
incorrectly
 at the very least, a frustrating沮丧 interface can
cause stress and discomfort
 a well-designed interface can incrroductivity
