Items and Inventory Management

Edvanced Item Location Configuration

▪ To enable Multi-Location Inventory feature,

Go to Company  Enable Feature  Items & Inventory
▪ We can enable the advanced Item Location Configuration feature to better
use item location attributes data with easier data entry and display.
▪ Previously, when you viewed the Locations subtab on an item record, data
showed for all locations by default. In 2017.2, location information is not
displayed until a view is selected. The view selection determines which data
columns show and data shows only for locations related to the selected
View.
▪ Item location attributes are no longer automatically assigned to all
locations.
Location filters

▪ Subsidiary Filtering
▪ In the Subsidiary field, select a subsidiary to filter the list to show only
the selected location. To select more than one subsidiary , make a
selection and then hold down the Shift key while clicking additional
selections.
▪ Location Filtering
▪ In the Location field, select a location to filter the list to show only
the selected location. To select more than one location, make a
selection and then hold down the Shift key while clicking additional
selections.
▪ View Filtering
▪ In the View field, select the custom list view you want to use to view the contents of this
subtab.
▪ Standard list views include the following:

▪ Inventory

New Inventory Costing preference page

▪ helps you manage account preferences to control the ways inventory costing is run.
▪ Setup > Accounting > Accounting preference > Inventory Costing Preference
▪ After transaction entry – After each transaction is successfully saved, NetSuite
processes the inventory costing impact for the transaction immediately.
▪ Every hour – After each transaction is successfully saved, NetSuite processes the
inventory costing impact for these transactions once per hour.
▪ Based on custom schedule – After each transaction is successfully saved, NetSuite
processes the inventory costing impact for these transactions only according to a
customized schedule.
Advanced Bill of Materials

▪ To enable Advanced Bills of Materials feature,

Go to Company  Enable Feature  Items & Inventory
Advanced BOM enables you to do the
following:
▪ Copy existing BOMs and create new BOMs
▪ Use a single BOM across multiple assemblies
▪ For example, multiple bicycle frame sizes could all use the same wheel assembly BOM.
▪ Assign multiple BOMs to a single assembly
▪ Apply unique BOMs to various stages of the product lifecycle
▪ For example, an engineering BOM, a production BOM, and a subcontracting BOM.
▪ Designate a default BOM for an assembly, or select an assembly default BOM for a
location
▪ For example, a bicycle assembly produced in Canada uses BOM CA. When the company
starts producing the same bicycle in the U.S., the system uses BOM US.
▪ Define yield at the component level on the BOM revision record
▪ A Bill of Materials (BOM) lists the quantities of raw materials,
assemblies, sub-components, and parts needed to manufacture a
product
▪ An assembly item is an inventory item made up of several
components, but identified as a single item. Assemblies are
manufactured by combining raw materials you stock.
▪ Assembly work orders track the production of assembly items
needed for stock or to fill orders. Work orders track the quantities of
assemblies that need to be built and the quantities of components, or
member items, needed to do so.

Steps for Bill of Materials
Changes in BOM
Use Component Yield – Enables you to account for material component yield loss during the ordering
and planning process. Accounting for material variances enables you to plan for the usable quantity you
need when ordering a quantity that is higher than what you need. Work orders can reflect item order
quantities based on accurate expected component yield assumptions, not the quantities listed on the
bill of materials.
