Making Higher Education Accessible to the Talented but
Financially Weak Students
 Financial Assistance at BUITEMS
– an overview

 BUITEMS provide financial assistance to 20% of her

students with the following break-up:

Merit Scholarship 10% (700 students/annum)

Need-based Scholarship 8% (580 students/annum)
Work-Study Program 2% (120 students/annum)

Total 20% (1400 students/annum)

 These scholarships are provided from BUITEMS own

resources
 BUITEMS Work-Study?

 It is a Financial Aid program that allows a

student to work while he/she is attending
university.
 Most awards are based on working 10 hours
per week

 The mission of the BUITEMS Work-Study

Program is to support the education of the
university students while providing:

 An opportunity for students to fund their
education
 A sense of empowerment and high self-
esteem in students
 Rationale of the Program

 Very few individuals in Balochistan get

to university
 The inability of talented youth to bear
the expenses of higher education
 Eligibility for Work-Study

 Student has applied for “Financial Assistance”

 Applicant is enrolled in a full degree program
 Applicant upholds Satisfactory Academic
Progress standards (at least 2.0 CGPA)
 Applicant has the capability to perform the
type of job that’s being offered.

 Student gets up to 100% fee waiver based on

the number of hours he/she has worked
during the semester.
 An experience certificate at the end of
academic degree indicating the duration and
nature of work performed
