GENERAL ADVICE:

• Get the research project going very fast.


• Spend your funds as soon as possible.
• 70% of funds must be spent each year to
allow you to get the following years funds.
• Follow the rules carefully in doing reports.
SPECIFIC ADVICE:

• Spend time with your finance division to make sure they can

satisfy the AU funding rules.

• Keep copies of all emails and invoices etc. in case of enquiries.

• Have, and keep, all meeting minutes signed.

• Have at least annual formal meetings with partners.

• Check carefully about buying goods based on fluctuating

exchange rates.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION WHEN COSTING THE PROPOSAL

“The Contracting Authority shall make payments in the currency of


the country to which it belongs or in USD, in accordance with the
Special Conditions. In the latter case, any conversion into USD of
the real costs borne in other currencies shall be done at the rate
made up by the average of the rates published for the months
covered by the relevant report, unless otherwise provided in the
Special Conditions.”

“In the event of an exceptional exchange-rate fluctuation, the


Parties shall consult each other with a view to restructuring the
Action in order to lessen the impact of such a fluctuation. Where
necessary, the Contracting Authority may take additional
measures.”
