• THERE WAS: it is used when we speak of a
thing, that is, we speak of a singular noun. This
can be countable or uncountable
• . Example: There was a pencil on the table.
( Había un lápiz sobre la mesa)
• THERE WERE:
is used when talking about 2 or more things and when it is
plural
• Examples:
There were many students in the room
( habia muchos estudiantes en el salón)

Addition connectors allow us to add a phrase or sentence to

another phrase or sentence. For example:

Esta casa cuenta con cuatro recámaras. Además, tiene tres baños.

This proposal would be quite expensive. Furthermore, I don't think it's very
practical.

The similarity or comparison connectors allow us to compare
sentences and phrases or talk about the similarity between ideas. For
example
• FOR EXAMPLES:

You can't get ahead without effort. Likewise, you can't

succeed without making some sacrifices.
No puedes salir adelante sin esfuerzo. Asimismo, no puedes
tener éxito sin hacer sacrificios.

Drinking less coffee may help you sleep better. In the

same way, drinking less soda will improve your sleep.
Tomar menos café puede ayudarte a dormir mejor. De la
misma manera, tomar menos refresco puede mejorar la
calidad del sueño.
