Transfer posting

A transfer posting is used in several other situations that do not necessarily

involve a physical movement of materials.

stock statuses that determine the usability of materials

• unrestricted use,
• in quality inspection,
• blocked,
• in transit.

two scenarios:
• material-to-material posting : is used to change the material number of a
material.
 This process is common in industries such as pharmaceuticals and
chemicals where the characteristics of a material change over time
• consignment-to-warehouse stock posting

Stock Transfer
• a stock transfer is used to physically move materials within the enterprise
from one organizational level or location
movements under three scenarios:
• between storage locations within one plant: temporary staging area, QA
• between plants in one company code,
• between plants in different company codes.
three options are available for moving materials(issue and receipt):
• one-step procedure : This strategy is appropriate when the two locations are physically
close to each other and there is no significant time lag between issue and receipt.
• a two-step procedure: in-transit stock status
 when the locations are geographically separated by distance.
 when the same person does not have authorization to make changes at both
locations
• a stock transport order (STO)= procurement: a process in which one plant essentially
“purchases” the materials and another plant “sells” them. Three scenario:
 Stock Transport Orders without Delivery
 Stock Transport Orders with Delivery
 Stock Transport Orders with Delivery and Billing
