GOING TO
am/is/ are+ going to + verb
Positive form: I`m going to help
Negative form: I`m not going to help.
Question form: Are you going to help?
We use “going to” to talk about present intentions about the
Future.(near or more distant)
Example: I`m going to have a bath in a few minutes.(= I
intended to have a bath in a near future)
She says she`s going to be a ballet dancer one day.(= she
intends now to be a ballet dancer in the future).
2. PRESENT CONTINOUS
a. We use the present continous to talk about things we
have arranged for the future.
Examples:I`m meeting Tony this weekend.(= I have
arranged this.)
What are you doing tonight?( = what have you
arranged?)
b.Sometimes it doesn`t matter whether we use the present
continous or going to.
Examples: I`m playing football tonight.
I`m going to play football tonight.
c. It is wrong to use present continous for for a general intention.
Examples: They are going to get married one day.(= this is a general
intention, but has not been arranged).
They`re getting married. (= the wedding is already arranged).
3. WILL
POSITIVE FORM
I/you//he,etc `ll(=will) + verb
Example: She`ll learn english soon.
NEGATIVE FORM
I/you/ he,etc won`t (=will not) + verb
Example: She won`t learn english.
QUESTION FORM
Will you/he,etc + verb? Example: Will she learn english?
We use “will” for talking about things that we think will happen.
Without any particular intention or arrengement. We predict
what will happen or think they are inevitable.
4. Modal Verbs
Many present modal forms actually refer to future plans and
intentions.
Examples: I can see him in a half in hour.
We must talk later.
B. FUTURE CLAUSES WITH IF, WHEN,ETC
Even when we are talking about the future, after if, unless, when,
before, after, as soon as, until, once, next time, etc.We use a
present verb verb form. It is wrong to use a future form in these
clauses.
Examples:
If she fails her exam again, she`be really upset
I`ll contunue as planned unless you phone me.
I`m going to stay here until I find somewhere else to live.
When I find it, I`ll bring it for you.
As soon as we get home, I`m going to have a bath.
Once we finish the decorating, we`ll have more time.
