Control Modes

 Two kinds of Control Mode:

 Direct Execute (DE)
 Select Before Operate (SBO)
Direct Execute: a control may be performed directly without selection
SBO: the device must be selected before allowing execution

3 Operator-Control 3
Control Acknowledgement

 Positive acknowledgement: no pop-up window appears

 Negative acknowledgement: a control acknowledgement

pop-up will appear to display negative control
acknowledgement and to allow users with appropriate
rights to by-pass the interlocking control verification.

4 Operator-Control 4
Control Condition Verification

 The control condition verification handled by Operator

Interface are:
 The user rights
 The local/remote substation mode
 The local/remote or SBMC bay mode
 The automatic/ manual state of the associated automation
(typically, raise/lower control on a tap changer are forbidden if the
ATCC is in service)

5 Operator-Control 5
Control Condition Verification

 The user right verification is always active

 Other verifications can be activated or not at configuration
level for each control.

 Access to control buttons in the pop-up is depending of

control condition verifications

6 Operator-Control 6
Synchrocheck function

Controls in Direct Execute Mode
without control window
A button is configured in a mimic, and can be associated to a
control order (e.g. OFF control order. The control is
immediately sent when the operator click on the button

8 Operator-Control 8
Controls in Direct Execute Mode
without control window

For analog controls, a box appears to allow the operator to

enter control value

After clicking on the button, e.g. “oil temp”, a box is displayed

in front of the button

Enter the value into the box then press Enter key to send the
value. The window will close automatically
9 Operator-Control 9
Controls in Direct Execute Mode
with control window

Two formats are available:

12 Operator-Control 12
Controls in SBO Mode

In this mode, control phase is composed of two phases:

▪ The graphic selection phase
▪ The SBO phase itself

Two SBO modes exist:

. OPERATE ONCE: after selection phase, only one execution

is allowed and the de-selection is done automatically.

. OPERATE MANY: after selection phase, one or several

executions are allowed, and the operator must de-selects the device
manually

The conditions are defined via logical equations and apply for a kind
of order on a device (close/open).

The association of the logic state true/false to the different variable

states (e.g. jammed, closed, open) is predefined during
configuration.

22 Operator-Control 22
Device Interlocking function

In case of positive result check, the control sequence keeps on.
