INTRODUCTION

 Automatic gear change control apparatus for

an automobile and a method of controlling
such apparatus

 The ease of riding with the comfort of a

motorcycle

 Luxury at the hand of common people

Continued….

 Different modes of transmission like power

mode, economy mode, drive mode

 Power mode shifts gear up at higher rpm

 Economy mode shifts gear at moderate rpm

 Single switch transmission between different

modes
Continued….

 Well suited for beginners and women who

love to ride a bike but have confusion about
gears

 No need of any change in gear box or the

structure of bike

 Precise control done by means of a rpm

sensor and a microcontroller
Continued….

 Intelligent transmission enabling best in class

mileage in eco mode and power in power
mode

 Combination of mechatronic system

 High end technology established at the

lowest cost
PROBLEM DEFENITION

 Some of the models having the system that we

discussed are :-

1. Ridley ( US manufacture)
starting price of bike from 8 lakh rupees
Not available in India.
2. Honda
Honda having two models in this segment
starting price around 9 lakh rupees
HONDA DN-01
•680 CC OHC V-Twin
•Super bike
•High cost

HONDA VFR 1200 F

• 1237 cc Liquid-cooled
•Super bike
•High cost
Continued….

 The existing versions are not suitable for

Indian economy

 They are mainly over priced and over

powered

 Models available are not suitable for Indian

roads
METHODOLOGY

 Two electromagnetic coils are coupled to the

gear rod of the two ends.

 The proximity sensor is used to sense the

wheel speed

 The signal is given to the microcontroller unit

and processed
Continued….

 The Microcontroller is activated by a control

switch

 There are two relays associated with the

microprocessor

 One relay for shifting the gear up and another

one for shifting down the gear
Continued….

 Right shifting at the right rpm gives

maximum output

 Different modes can be controlled by the

microprocessor

 Power modes shifts at higher rpm and

economy mode shifts at moderate rpm
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

 Easy maintenance

 Components easily available

 Less running cost

 High initial cost is the disadvantages

CONCLUSION

 Implemented on motor cycle available in

indian market without any modification

 It can be easily fitted to motor cycle

 No need of internal modification of the gear

system
