Normal Operation
• In the normal mode of operation, the machine with highest priority will act as master machine and
the other machines will act as slave Machines
Forced switch
• Log into the TejEMS client with the appropriate user access profile

Switch view contd.
Field Description
Node Name: Displays the node name of the respective switch
Switch Name: Displays the switch name. For example Switch-1-6-0 where 1 is Chassis
index, 6 is Slot index and 0 is Port index.
Mac Address: Displays the MAC address of the switch
VLAN Version Number: Displays the default version number for the VLANs which
is prescribed by the VLAN standard.
Max Vlan Id: Displays the maximum range of VLAN Id (4094). Indicates the
maximum number which can be used as a VLAN id by the user.
Max Supported Vlans: Displays the maximum number of Vlans that can be supported.
Current VLAN: Displays the number of Vlans in the node currently.

• To view current alarms at the network level, click current alarms icon. A list of all the current alarms in
the network irrespective of the severity is displayed

To set the attributes of a node – Ethernet IP can be configured for individual nodes
• Click Layers > Fiber View or click
• Double click the desired node or Right click on the desired node and select Attributes. The
corresponding node attributes window is displayed
• Enter the name, location and Ethernet IP and mask length of the node
• Click Apply
To view the shelf details of a network element – Gives the view of live cards on the node
• Click Layers > Fiber View or click

To provision the MSP Group – Configuration for port level protection
• Click Layers > Fiber View or click
• Right click on the desired node and click Attributes
• Right click on the attributes window
• Click Provisioning > MSP Groups. The Port Protection window is displayed
• Enter the work port, protect port, switch mode, revertion mode
• Click Apply.
To create a cross connect – Selecting the source and destination port for traffic flow
• Click Layers > Fiber View or click
• Right click on the desired node and click Attributes
• Right click on the attributes window
• Click Provisioning > Create Cross Connects. The Cross Connect window is displayed
• Select the capacity source port, source time slot, source protection mode, source reversion mode, source
destination port, destination time slot, destination protection mode and destination reversion mode

To create circuits - Selecting the path between the source and destination node,
and creating a circuit allows creation of all the cross connections required between
the source, destination and intermediate nodes at a single go.
• In the Fiber View, select the source and destination node. Right click and select the shortest path.
• The shortest path is highlighted.
• Right click in the window and select Add circuit. The create circuit window is displayed
• Enter the number of copies(no of circuits to be created), no of links(no of channels within a VCG---only
for ethernet circuits), granularity, source port, source time slot, destination port, destination time slot and
service identifier
• Lower part of the create circuit window displays the information of trunk connectivity between the source
and destination node. Select the K-L-M values.
• Click ok
• Right click on the created circuit. Select provisioning>provision
Note: Circuit provisioning process displays partially provisioned in circuit command status column
indicating that all the crossconnections required for circuit is not been created.The reason could be
configuration mismatch on the PDH cards for eg Card configured as E1 on say source and destination card
configured for DS1

To add protection to a circuit – A protection path can be defined for any circuit,
allows creation of all the cross connections required between the source, destination
and intermediate nodes at a single go for the protection path
• Right click on the particular circuit and select protection > add manual protect path
• Add protect path window displayed. Select the straight lines>right click >add protect path
• Circuit window displayed. Select the timeslots for protection and click add
• Manual addition success window displayed.
• Right click on the circuit.Select provisioning>provision

To schedule circuit provisioning - Provisioning start and end time can be defined for any
circuit. The circuit is provisioned at the start time defined and unprovisioned at the end
time defined
• Right click the desired circuit in the Tjcircuit window and click Provisioning>schedule provisioning.
• Enter the start and stop time for provisioning the circuit against the Provision Start Time and
Provision End Time fields.Select the repeat option which defines the repetition of circuit on
daily/weekly/monthly or yearly basis
• Click Apply
To filter the circuits in the network – A particular circuit can be filtered from the list of
circuits created
To create a trace circuit for PDH port - If a circuit is deleted without unprovisioning, we
can trace the circuit by selecting the particular source/destination PDH port through

To create trace circuit window for ETH card - If an ethernet circuit is deleted without
unprovisioning, we can trace the circuit by selecting the particular source/destination
ethernet port through the equipment view and giving the trace circuit option

To create higher order trail - Instead of creating individual lower order cross
connections in the pass through nodes a higher order trail can be created between the
pass through nodes and then add lower order cross connections between the source
and destination nodes
• Click Layers > Fiber View or click
• Select the trunks through which the higher order trail has to be created
• Right click in the fiber view ->Add Circuit. The Create Circuit window is displayed
• Enter the granularity-VC4, source port, destination port and identifier and check the box create higher
order trunk. Click ok.
• Right click on the planned circuit in New circuit window-> click Provisioning
• Higher order trail reflects as a AU4 trunk between the source and destination nodes in the fiber view
• The lower order trails can be added by selecting the higher order trail trunk and then Right click in the fiber
view > Add circuit. The Create Circuit window is displayed
• Enter the granularity, source port, destination port and identifier.Click ok
• Right click on the planned circuit in New circuit window-> click Provisioning

To configure an order wire – Order wire channel can be configured by selecting the
path between the source and destination node, which creates a 64kbps channel for
voice communication between the source and destination node
To download the software – A new version of the software can be uploaded onto
individual nodes by downloading the new version of the software
To configure OSPF parameters – OSPF ethernet enable allows to detect the shortest
path to the nodes in a network connected through ethernet interface.OSPF global
enable allows to detect the shortest path to the nodes in a network connected through
optical interface

• In configuration 24 hr monitoring select disable/enable/include list and click apply
• Disable will disable 24 hr performance monitoring on the nodes

enabled

• Click Administration > Security > User Setting. The User Info window containing information regarding
the existing users is displayed
• Right click and select New. The Create New User window is displayed
• Enter the user name and password in the corresponding fields. Select the desired group and profile for

the profile and to objects defined in the group
