COMPUTER LAB RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Timing of lab is 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday to


Friday.
2. Pupils must present a valid ID card before
entering the computer lab.
3. Staff person MUST be in the computer lab
while pupils are using it. The lab will be locked
when no staff present.
4. Use of the lab is restricted to the pupils with ID,
faculty and staff only. DO NOT bring guests or
visitors into the lab.

5. Jackets, sweaters and Jumpers are not


allowed in the computer lab
6. Keep your bags at the front of the lab on the
locker provided where you can watch over
them.
7. Users are responsible for their own personal
belongings. ICT is not responsible for lost or
stolen items.
8. On their way out of the computer labs pupils
will be checked by staff in charge.

9. DO NOT install any software in the lab. We


believe we have installed the necessary
software to suit your general purpose. Should
you need extra and specialized software for a
particular need, you are welcome to discuss
with the staff in charge.
10. DO NOT alter any setting and configuration
of computers in the lab.

11. Inform the staff in charge immediately if a
computer is not working properly. DO NOT try to
repair the equipment yourself. Additionally, you are
not allowed to disconnect or move any equipment
in the Lab.
12. Users are solely responsible for the backup of
their important and sensitive data either by saving it
locally on hard drives or to portable storage Media
such as CDs and DVDs. ICT department WILL NOT
be liable for any data loss caused by computer
breakdown or by the routine system maintenance.

13. No pupil is allowed to use flash drives
without consulting the staff in charge.
14. Laptops and other portable
computers should strictly be used where
there is no connected workstation or
computer. Pupils must consult staff in
charge before they connect their
laptops to power. Pupils are not allowed
to unplug network cables from the lab
computers to connect to their laptops.

15. Lab computers are strictly for academic


purpose only. Therefore, you are encouraged
to use them to maximize your learning
capacity. In particular accessing and browsing
of pornographic sites are strictly NOT allowed. In
addition, the following website and activities
are considered inappropriate: Music and Video
Download, Chat Boards, Gaming, and
Excessive social networking.
16. NO Food or Drinks allowed in the lab.
17. Silence must be maintained in the lab at all
cost.

18. NO group discussions allowed in the lab;
19. Always log off the computer in the proper
manner when leaving the lab: Click the Start
button, Select Log off from the menu.
20. Keep your computer lab clean! Please
dispose of your own trash and pack out any
items you brought with you. Return your
keyboard, mouse to their normal position and
push in your chair when leaving the lab.

21. Always carry your lab ID card with you while
using the lab. You may be asked to present it at
any time and if you don't have it with you, you
may be asked to leave the lab.
22. Be courteous, be polite and show respect to
other pupils and staff. Any cases of indiscipline
may lead to suspension from the Lab.
23. Be considerate. Avoid using computers
unnecessarily longer than required. Other pupils
may be waiting in the queue.

Violation and Penalties


Should any of the above provision be
breached, the ICT department depending on
the degree of violation will either warn or
suspend the pupil from the Lab. The senior
teachers will be informed immediately for their
record. The pupil will remain under suspension
until the pupil can show and prove genuine
reasons NOT to re-offend. By order!
