Step 1 : Prepare all the materials
and tools needed
Step 2 : Skin off the cable jacket

3.0 cm long

NOTE:
Damaging
one of the 8
wires, even if
you just nick
it or partially
cut it, will ruin
your cable.
Step 3 : Untwist each pair and
straighten each wire
Step 4 : Get the wires lined up and
nice and straight. Wire order is
from left - to – right.
STRAIGHT-THROUGH CABLE

• It is used in local area

network to connect a PC to
a network hub and router.
This is the standard cable
used for almost all
purposes.

 CROSS-OVER CABLE

• It can be used to connect

two network devices
directly, without the need for
a router in the middle.

Step 5 : Cut all the wires

Step 6 : Insert the wires into the RJ45
connector
the pins facing up

NOTE: Maintain wire order, left-to-right,

with RJ45 tab facing downward.
Step 7 : Place the connector into a crimping
tool, and squeeze hard so that the handle
reaches its full swing.
Step 8 : Use a cable tester to test for proper
continuity.
