INTRODUCTION

• The E-tshirt project assists the people classified as autistic by

giving their caregivers details of their autonomic data.
• This project consists of a device attached to a tshirt that
provides wearer’s heart rate, skin temperature and galvanic
skin response.
• The details are transferred to the caregiver using an app using
bluetooth module.

SCOPE
• The occurrences of meltdowns in autistic patients if
identified prior can assist the near and dear ones of the
victims to be prepared to minimize the effect.
• The heart beat, skin temperature and the galvanic skin
response(measure of sweat rate) will be monitored
continuously and displayed.
• Any fluctuations in the parameters will be alerted with the
help of an alarm and simultaneously messages will be
passed to the required.
• Useful in cases with multiple patients and to monitor
different diseases.
• Raises the level of monitoring a patient at home.
OBJECTIVE
• Alert the caretaker of the autistic victim of any meltdown
to occur.
• Continuously monitor the heart rate, galvanic skin response
and temperature.
• Continuous display of parameters.
• Alert the required when the values cross the safe threshold.
• Better care and precautions at home.
IMPLEMENTATION
• Mainly 3 parts of the system, Heartbeat beat, temperature and galvanic skin
response sensor.
• Heartbeat sensor is used to measure the heartbeat rate.
• Temperature Sensor is used to measure body temperature.
• Galvanic skin response sensor is used to measure the skin conductivity.
• Program is coded into an Arduino Uno.
• Device is embeded onto a tshirt.
• Datas are continously displayed.
• When the parameters cross a threshold value, caregivers are alerted.

FAMILIARIZATION OF COMPONENTS
• ARDUINO UNO ATMEGA 328
• HEARTBEAT SENSOR
• TEMPERATURE SENSOR
• GSR SENSOR
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
ARDUINO UNO ATMEGA 328
• Microcontroller ATmega328
• Operating Voltage: 5V
• Input Voltage (Recommended): 7-12V
• Analog I or O Pins :6
• Flash memory 32 KB (ATmega328) of which 0.5 KB used by bootloader
SRAM 2 KB (ATmega328)
FUNCTIONALITY
• Low Powered Low cost Microcontroller
• Analog Pin A0 programmed to interface with heartbeat sensor and
read values.
• Analog Pin A1 programmed to interface with temperature sensor and
read values.
• Analog Pin A2 programmed to interface with GSR sensor and read
values.
HEARTRATE SENSOR MODULE
KG011
• Working Voltage +5V DC
• Heartbeat indication by LED
• Instant output digital signal for connecting to Arduino
• Compact Size
FUNCTIONALITY
• Used to detect heartbeat from fingertip or earlobe
• Input given to pin A0 of Arduino
• Consists of IR LED and Photo diode
• Works on the principle of Photoplethysmography
TEMPERATURE SENSOR LM35
• 5 V DC Power Supply
• Maintains an accuracy of +/-0.4°C at room temperature
• Temperature Range of -55- +150 degree Celsius
FUNCTIONALITY
• Direct to Digital Temperature Sensor
• Connected to pin 8 of the Arduino.
• Direct readout to temperature data is 9 bits wide, resolution 0.5
degree Celsius.
• Libraries used DallasTemperature.h and OneWire.h
GSR SENSOR
• Input Voltage: 5V/3.3V
• Measure skin conductivity using the 12-bit ADC
FUNCTUNALITY
• Our sweat glands open up when we are in situations of stress and
hence increases the skin conductivity.
• We can measure this skin conductivity using the 12-bit ADC.
• Connect the A2 pin to a long connecting wire attached to an
electrode.
• This electrode needs to be placed on the skin to be able to sense the
conductivity.

CODE EXPLANATION
CONCLUSION
• Immediate attention to patients at emergency.
• Prevents risk of any hazards to patients due to lack of proper
monitoring.
• Makes it comfortable and efficient to monitor autistic patients from
home.
• Chances of betterment in their conditions due to immediate actions.
LIMITATIONS
• Inaccuracy of the Sensors
• Damage to components due to atmospheric exposure.
ENHANCEMENTS
• System can also be developed by using GPRS and GSM technology.
• Future applications: mountaineers and deep sea divers.
• A wider network can be incorporated by sending a message along
with the patient’s location to the nearest hospital server.
• This can be used for measuring other parameters, and other diseases
too.
ECONOMIC VIABILITY
• Cost of Total Project Divided into 3 parts:
• Monitoring Section: Rs.600
• Processing Section: Rs.500
• Communication Section: Rs.1000
• Connective Wires and Resistors: Rs.150

• Total Cost: Rs.2250
