1+1 HSB (1+1 Hot Stand-by)

Compared with 1+0 non-protection, 1+1 HSB greatly improves

reliability of radio links.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

1+1 SD (1+1 Space Diversity)

Compared with 1+0 non-protection, 1+1 SD greatly improves anti-

fading capability (especially anti-multipath fading capability) and
reliability for a radio link.
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
XPIC (Cross-Polarization Interference Cancellation)

When the XPIC technology is not

used, adjacent channel alternated
polarization (ACAP) is used, allowing
two RF channels to transmit two
service signals

When the XPIC technology is used,

co-channel dual-polarization (CCDP)
is used, allowing one RF channel to
transmit two service signals

The XPIC technology is used to double the link transmission

capacity over the same channel.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

ATPC (Automatic Transmit Power Control)

The ATPC technology enables a transmitter to automatically

change its output power within the ATPC control range based on
the change in the RSL of a receiver. In this way, the RSL of the
receiver remains in a fixed range, and the interference with the
neighboring system and the residual error rate are reduced.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

AM (Adaptive Modulation)

After a radio link adopts the AM technology, the availability of links

for services with higher priorities is ensured and the bandwidth
utilization is improved.

IFU2
IFU2 boards apply to transmit native E1 services, native Ethernet services, native MPLS/PWE3 services, or a combination of these services
over Integrated IP radio (native E1+Ethernet).

IFX2
IFX2 boards form XPIC workgroups to expand the capacity of an Integrated IP radio hop (native E1+Ethernet) when transmitting native E1
services, native Ethernet services, native MPLS/PWE3 services, or a combination of these services.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

IF Boards (2/2)
ISU2

services (native E1+Ethernet or native STM-1+Ethernet).

ISX2
ISX2 boards form XPIC workgroups to expand the capacity of an SDH radio hop or Integrated IP radio hop when transmitting native E1
services, native STM-1 services, native Ethernet services, native MPLS/PWE3 services, or a combination of these services.

ISV3
ISV3 boards function as SDH IF boards to transmit SDH radio services, or as Integrated IP radio IF boards to transmit Integrated IP radio
services (native E1+Ethernet or native STM-1+Ethernet). Should transmission capacity need to be expanded, XPIC is supported.

NOTE:
Compared with ISU2/ISX2 boards, ISV3 boards support 512QAM or higher-order modulation schemes.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Ethernet Boards (1/2)
EM6T/EM6TA/EM6F/EM6FA
The EM6T/EM6F/EM6TA/EM6FA is an FE/GE interface board, which provides four FE electrical ports and two GE ports. The EM6T/EM6TA
has similar functions to the EM6F/EM6FA. The only difference is as follows: The GE ports on the EM6T/EM6TA use fixed electrical ports
whereas the GE ports on the EM6F/EM6FA use the SFP modules and therefore can function as two FE/GE optical or GE electrical ports. The
GE electrical ports on the EM6F/EM6FA and the EM6T/EM6TA are compatible with the FE electrical ports

NOTE:
EM6TA/EM6FA boards have the same functions as EM6T/EM6F boards. The only difference is that EM6TA/EM6FA boards support IEEE
1588v2 but EM6T/EM6F boards do not.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Antenna
The microwave equipment uses the parabolic antennas to radiate and
receive the electromagnetic waves.
1- Feed boom
The input interface of the feed boom receives the RF signals transmitted from the ODU.

2- Reflector
The reflector is mainly used for reflecting electromagnetic waves and providing the directive gain:
-In the TX direction, the reflector reflects electromagnetic waves radiated from the feed boom so that
electromagnetic waves are directional.
-In the RX direction, the reflector reflects electromagnetic waves received from a wider space, and then
assembles electromagnetic waves to the output interface of the feed boom.

3- Shield
The shield is installed on the antenna. The shield is mainly used for suppressing the radiation of the side
lobes.

4- Radome
The Radome protects the antenna from damages caused by the wind, rain, and ice. Electromagnetic
waves can be radiated through the Radome.

5- Mounting bracket
The mounting bracket is used for fixing the antenna onto the pole and for adjusting the azimuth and
elevation slightly. In addition to the mounting bracket, a reinforcing rod is required for fixing the antenna
with a larger diameter. For details, see the instructions for the antenna.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Antenna Types (1/2)
The antennas are classified into two types, namely, the single-polarized
antenna and dual-polarized antenna.
Single-polarized Antenna
The single-polarized antenna transmits or receives electromagnetic waves in a specific polarization direction. The single-polarized antenna
provides a feed boom interface. The feed boom interface can be set to be vertically polarized or horizontally polarized.

with the diameter less than or equal to 1.8 m

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Antenna Types (2/2)
The antennas are classified into two types, namely, the single-polarized
antenna and dual-polarized antenna.
Dual-polarized Antenna
The dual-polarized antenna transmits and receives horizontally-polarized and vertically-polarized electromagnetic waves at the same time. According
to the mode of installing the ODU to the antenna, the dual-polarized antenna is classified into two types, namely, direct-mount antenna and separate-
mount antenna.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Outdoor Installation Modes (1/2)
Direct Mounting Mode
When the small-diameter and single-polarized antenna is used, the direct mounting mode is usually adopted. In this case, if one ODU uses
one antenna, the ODU should be installed at the back of the antenna. If two ODUs share one antenna, one RF signal combiner-divider
(hereinafter referred to as hybrid coupler) should be added between the antenna and the ODU.
.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

Outdoor Installation Modes (2/2)
Separate Mounting Mode
When the dual-polarized antenna or the large-diameter and single-polarized antenna is used, the separate mounting mode is adopted. In this
case, two ODUs can share one feed boom by adding a hybrid coupler.
In separate mounting mode, the ODU separated mounting bracket is used to fix the ODU or hybrid coupler on the pole. The ODU or hybrid
coupler and the antenna are connected through a flexible wave guide.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.

OMT
For a dual-polarized direct-mount antenna, an ODU is connected to the orthogonal
mode transducer (OMT) on the antenna. The OMT couples or separates orthogonal
polarized waves (vertically polarized and horizontally polarized) based on conversion
between the rectangular waveguide cavity and the round waveguide cavity.
