RBS 2111 with TG synch
1/221 09-FGC 101 944 Uen Rev. E Ericsson wide Internal 38 2007-02-27
RBS 2111 with TG synch
For configurations larger than 3x2 additional RBS 2111 have to be used, with each MU
interconnected by the TG synch cable. Each MU supports up to 3 RRU.
For example, if a RBS 2111 site with 3x4 configuration shall be configured:
– Two RBS 2111 have to be ordered, with each RBS 2111 including one MU and three RRU.
The MUs are interconnected wih a TG synch cable and multi-drop functionality used for the
E1 transmission connection.

Upgrade 3x2 RBS 2111 site to 3x4, example 1
Example how to expand a new 3x2 RBS 2111 site that supports TG synch to 3x4
by using two RBS 2111 and TG synch
1. Order a new RBS 2111 including: one MU, three RRU and a TG synch cable
2. Install the new RBS 2111 and connect the TG synch cable between the two MUs

Upgrade 3x2 RBS 2111 site to 3x4, example 2
Example how to expand an existing 3x2 RBS 2111 site that does not support TG
synch to 3x4 by using two RBS 2111 and TG synch
1. Swap the existing MU to a new MU with TG sync support
Move the swapped MU with no TG synch support to a low capacity site
The existing RRUs can continue to be used
2. Order a new RBS 2111 including: one MU, three RRU and a TG synch cable
3. Install the new RBS 2111 and connect the TG synch cable between the two MUs
