Introduction:
This tutorial is dedicated to the detail planning. In the next 12
steps you will learn how to draw details and you will see how
easy it is to create the construction documentation.
Information:
The files were optimized for demonstration purposes, we
recommend to use the matching file to every video.

Step 01
Project settings
Project units
- Length: meter and centimeter
Import CAD
- Insert > import CAD
File: additional files/ siteplan.dwg
Layers: specify…
Import units: centimeter
Positioning: auto – center to center
Place at: level 1

Step 02
Override graphics in view, link a Revit project, import a dwg
Symbol
- add symbol
additional files/ Orientation_symbol.rfa
- place it on the site plan

Step 03
Bearing structure
Create beam
- Load beam family
Structural/Framing/Steel/M_M-Miscellaneous Wide Flange 150x5.5mm
- Set placement plane: level 6 in the option bar
- deactivate “3D snapping”
Beam system
- Select the attic and change the “structural usage” to bearing
- Beam system
Layout rule: fixed numbers; 20
- Beam type: M_M-Miscellaneous Wide Flange 150x5.5mm
Beam joints
- Beam/ Column joints
Place column
- Structure > Column
- Type:
1st Click: level 5
Draw brace
- Brace
- Type: Round Bar 25mm
- Activate 3D Snapping

Step 04
Roof & roof joins
Create roof
- Open level 5
- Roof by footprint
- Attach walls to roof
Create saddle and mono pitch roof by deactivating the “defines slope”

Renovation plan
Phases
- With the view cube change to the top view
Define the left and right buildings as Phase “Existing”
- Set the phase filter to “show all”
Demolition
- Demolish the interior walls
Create new walls
Phase filter
- Copy Level 1
- Rename to Level 1 with existing + new
- Phase filter > Show previous and new
Wall opening
- Open Level 1
- Create wall opening
- Edit wall profile

Wall sweep & reveal, create in-place component

- Create wall sweep
Type: sweep MPK
Reveal
- draw a reveal
- switch to vertical, draw a second reveal
In-place component
- In-place model
Family category: generic model
- Start > Sweep
Pick path along the attic
Edit profile

Sloped insulation, multi layered wall, wall joins
Sloped insulation
- Select roof
- Add point
Move point 15cm down
Join geometry
- Join geometry
Join wall and roof

Lines, create line type, callout
Callout
- Open Section 1
- Select Callout in the View Tab > double click blue symbol
- Split crop region

Masking region, filled region, repeating detail component,

- Draw a rectangle over the insulation
- Draw an insulation over the masking region

Type: solid black

- Place it somewhere
- Mirror the Window
- Place it correctly
- Draw a filled region with the rectangle tool

Set the blue arrow toward the filled region

- Place the spot slope in the sloped roof
