Terminologies related with hinges

• Overlay
Distance which the door projects over the cabinets front edge.
• Reveal
a) For overlay doors
Distance between the outside of the cabinet and the outer edge of the
door
b)For inset doors
Distance between the inner side of the cabinet and the outer edge of
door
Reveal depends upon :-
a)Door thickness
b)Door edge radius
c)hinge type

Intermat 9936 gives a maximum overlay of 20 mm at cup distance of
8 mm so if we want overlay of 18 mm then we have to reduce cup
distance to 6 mm.
• Cup distance
Distance from the edge of the cabinet to the edge of the cup.
Mounting plates will 37 mm inside from the of the cabinet for overlays
& 37 + thickness of the shutter incase of inset so that there is no gap
between the shutter & the cabinet & we can get desired opening angle.
