NwSSU Android-Based

Enrolment System
A BSCS-3 Project Proposal
Introduction

An application is a program or group of

programs that is designed for the end user.
Mobile apps (mobile application software) is a
term used to describe applications that run on
smart phones, tablet computers and other
mobile devices.
We live in a world where the usage of Mobile Applications is
growing exponentially. People need access to information and
services wherever they are, using whatever devices they
have. Mobile apps are originally offered for general productivity and
information retrieval, including email, calendar, contacts, and stock
market and weather information. Android is the most popular
platform of mobile applications.

Android technology is apparently one of the leading

technologies in the market today. Android is the most widely used
mobile OS and, as of 2014, the highest selling OS overall. Its default
user interface is based on direct manipulation, using touch inputs,
that loosely correspond to real-world actions, like swiping, tapping,
pinching, and reverse pinching to manipulate on-screen objects, and
a virtual keyboard.
 Why stick to the old system if a small step
forward would mean a large leap of change?

 Why bear with the hassles if an android-based

app would make students’ life lighter?

 Why not change for the better?

Project Description
Android-based enrolment system
 an interactive transaction-based application that
enables mobile user students (specifically
android phone users)to get each a slot as
official students of the school. This is a modern
way to get enrolled in the university as well as to
have the mobile versions of the kiosk, checklist
and handbook.
The Northwest Samar State University Mobile
Enrolment System facilitates students’ enrollment in a
way that it eliminates difficulties of the old enrollment
process. Because of the incorporation of the kiosk,
checklist and student handbook in the system, over-all
convenience is a true advantage for the school. The
support of an ease of the user interface perpetuates a
user-friendly mobile application suitable for any student
of the University.
The system is composed of both online and offline
applications. Online apps are the enrollment system
itself and the kiosk while offline apps are the checklist
and handbook. Under the enrollment module, students
can get the assessment form and the assigned
enrollment number. The kiosk provides the grades and
the schedule of the students. The handbook contains the
information of the school like the students’ rights, the
mission and vision, grade converter, school hymn. The
checklist includes the list of subjects in every course per
semester as well as the prerequisite subjects. The
students can input their grades in the blank provided for
each subjects.
Objectives
The development of this application generally aims
to promote convenience for the students through the use
of android devices.
1. To eliminate difficulties of the current enrollment system
of the university.
2. To satisfy the students and employees with the aim of
paperless exchange.
3. To revolutionize the traditional handbook of the
University, providing the students easy access on the
rules and regulations of the institution.
4. To assist students with a grade converter with the
corresponding description of each grade bracket.
5. To provide a checklist of College of Management and
Information Technology, described as follows:
 To give the students a list of subjects to be taken in every
semester.
 To provide the prerequisite subjects.

6. To provide students access on their class schedules

and record of grades(locally within the University’s
register).

7. To provide the students general information of the school

as indicated in the handbook module.
Scope and Limitations
• NwSSU Android-Based Enrolment System
is a Mobile Application that is available for
Android devices. It is developed for the
undergraduate students of the Northwest
Samar State University.
• Since the system is composed of both
online and offline applications, Wi-Fi
connection is required to access some of
its functionalities.
Scope and Limitations
• Mobile enrolment and kiosk would cater
undergraduate students except for new
students (freshmen and transferees).
Students should have their student
number and password issued by the MIS
to be able to log in.
Scope and Limitations
• The Checklist on the other hand could be
used only by the students of College of
Management and Information Technology
(CMIT).
• The listed subjects on the said application
are solely for the courses found in CMIT.
Scope and Limitations
• This is only intended for personal
references and could not be presented to
the school staff as a valid document for
evaluation purposes. The subjects found
on the application would depend upon the
latest curriculum and any changes on the
curriculum should thereby alter the content
of the app.
