NATURAL MEDICINE

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) includes different modalities such as Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine,
Tuina, Gua Sha, Cupping, Maxa; to name a few. The most popular of these is Acupuncture.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points of the body. This is accomplished by inserting very small needles
to restore balance allowing free flow of energy and promoting natural healing.

How does it work?

Acupuncture stimulates points found in channels that flow throughout the body. These channels transport blood,
fluids and the body’s vital energy or Qi. When the flow of energy is absent, deficient, interrupted, excessive or
blocked, we experience pain or illness.
There are around 400 acupuncture points throughout the body and each one has its own specific function,
which alone or in combination can help restore balance and health.
Does it hurt?
The insertion of acupuncture needles shouldn't hurt. Most people barely feel the needle until the acupuncturist stimulates the
needle. At that point, they can feel a little sensation but it is usually not painful.
