Some definitions

 Dictionary defines Security as “A thing that guards


or guarantees, being secure, guarantee, surety for
another.” it can be interpreted as “A state of being
secure or guarded”.
 Dictionary defines Secure as “safe, free from
anxiety or attack, firmly fastened, reliable.”
 We can also define security as “freedom from
exposure to danger, a feeling of safety, certainty,
and freedom from anxiety and a means of
protection”.

program should be no more extensive and no
more limited than is warranted to adequately
protect personnel, property and carry out the
assigned tasks.

Difference between Police and
Security

 Police functions under the authority of the


Government with formal sanction for active law
enforcement and it has powers to arrest, detention,
and interrogation.

 Private Security functions under Non Governmental


Agencies, they have no legal similar sanctions.

Concept of Security
 Dictionary defines Concept as-“General notion.”
 The concept of security is to protect the company in all its parts
in all its activities - it transcends all departments within the
company. The security program should protect personnel,
plants, offices, equipments, material, operations, methods,
procedures, Companies Reputation and Good name.
Role of Security
 Dictionary defines Role as-“Actor’s part, appointed duty.” The
role of Security is asset protection and loss prevention.
