THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION

• The United Nations is a unique organization of
independent countries that have come together to

EVENTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES FOR
THE CREATION OF UN.
• League of Nation Failed to Avert the second world war of which by
reason for its creation after the end of WWI
• The league of Nation was virtually useless by reason of the withdrawal of
its members.
• The war in Europe between European powers becomes a world war
wherein nations from various corner of the globes drag into the war like
japan, US, China and Australia and most of the colonies and overseas
territories of this waring states.
• August 14, 1941- Atlantic Charter a brainchild by US President F.D.
Roosevelt and Prime Minister of Great Britain Winston Churchill.
• Defeat of the Nazi German headed by Adolf Hitler and Italian Facist
Benito Mussolini in the epicenter of war in Europe. (July,1943).
TIME AND THE PLACE

• The Charter of the United Nations was signed on June 26,


1945 at San Francisco, California, USA. It took effect October
24, 1945.
• It took effect October 24, 1945 upon ratification by the Great
Powers and a majority of the other signatory states.

THE US, UK, USSR AND CHINA SPECIFICALLY
RECOMMENDED AN INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY. IT
WAS IMPLEMENTED IN DUMBARTON OAKS (STATE
OF WASHINGTON). FOLLOWED BY YALTA
MOSCOW CONFERENCE (FEBRUARY 1945) IN WHICH US,
DECLARATION ENGLAND AND RUSSIA DECIDED TO CALL FOR
CONFERENCE FOR THE PRECISE PURPOSE OF
DRAWING UP THE NEEDED CHARTER OF THE
ORGANIZATION. THE CHARTER WAS SIGNED ON
JUNE 26, 1945.
