 It's a pessimistic attitude that always


expects the worst.

Effects of Negative Thinking
• Feeling down:

The extent of negative feelings can go


from anger, frustration, irritability, to even
anxiety and depression, passing through
many other feelings, none of them
pleasant.

 Physical effects:

Negative thinking can create chronic


stress, which lowers the body defenses
and damages the immune system.

Chronic stress like hypertension (high


blood pressure), cardiovascular
disease, digestive disorders, and
infection that can actually decrease our
lifespan.

•Closing oneself down to possibilities
and the flow of abundance.
When we are in a negative state we do
not attract those elements that would
make our lives advance; rather we
attract the circumstances that support us
in thinking something is wrong, and we
get stuck.

Constant exposure to such negativity


can make deep inroads into your bank
of positivity, leading you to either
become negative— anxious, and
distrustful—yourself, or to become
indifferent, uncaring, or even mean
towards the negative person.

Forms of Negative Self-talk
 Filtering. You magnify the negative aspects
of a situation and filter out all of the positive
ones.

 Personalizing. When something bad occurs,


you automatically blame yourself.

 Catastrophizing. You automatically


anticipate the worst.

 Polarizing. You see things only as either


good or bad, black or white.

1. Deal with your Guilt :
• Stop over apologizing . You don’t have
to feel guilty or sorry all the time.
• Talk to the other person.
• Acknowledge guilt , then let it go .
• Forgive yourself . Everyone makes
mistakes.

2. Stop Complaining :
• Expressing dissatisfaction or annoyance
about something.

• There are two things you can do when you


feel the need to complain:

 To cultivate anattitude of gratitude.


 You can do and only when you have
something that is truly worth complaining
about ,is to engage in solution-oriented
complaining.

3. Proactive Focus :
The problems, challenges, and opportunities we face
fall into two areas–

The circle of concern:


• A Circle of Concern encompasses the wide range of
concerns we have, such as our health, our children,
problems at work etc. that we don’t have control
over.
• Consist of people that are reactive in nature.

The circle of influence:


• A Circle of Influence encompasses those concerns
that we can do something about. They are concerns
that we have some control over.
• Consist of people that are proactive in nature.

4. Do What You Love :

• Enjoying the things you love allows you


to feel positive, happy and joyful.

• When we do things that feel good and


that bring us happiness, we disengage
negativity.

5. Try Something New :
• A lot of negativity originates from the idea
that we can’t do something we’ve never tried
before.

•If you are always trying new things, though,


you realize that the world is full of things
you’ve never done.

6. Forget What Others Say :
 It’s crucial to remember that we live our own
lives, regret and all.

 Just because someone else tells us not to do


something, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t.
