3 MULTI BASE MODULE (MBM CONFG.)
 Base Module(BM) is the basic growth unit of the system
 BM can work in SBM configuration as an independent switch
providing 1500 Lines and 128 Trunks or as an RBM parented to
MBM via PCMs
 C-DOT DSS MAX in MULTI BASE MODULE(MBM) configuration may
support any combinations of Lines and Trunks for different
applications in the Network as Local Exchange, ILT or TAX .
 As MAX-XL it supports 40000 Lines and 5500 Trunks with 20 Line
BMs and 12 Trk BMs(I.e. Total of 32 BMs).As MBM-TAX it supports
14500 Trunks.
 Central Module(CM) forms an integral part of MBM & provides
space switching capabilities to connect 32 BMs. 20-09-2018

BACKGROUND
6

Presently about 22.5 million capacity of C-DOT

switches with about 9.76 million working lines across
India.
In Sept 2009, C-DOT conceived a project that
envisages the reuse of the line cards which
constitute a major portion of the switch investment
and convert the digital voice signals into VoIP.
The project envisages migration of all C-DOT MAX
technology exchanges to VoIP based Next
Generation Network (NGN) using indigenous
technology developed by C-DOT.
