 Compression

The compression test is a technical test to determine the strength of a

material or its deformation before a compression effort.

In general, a compression test for a material involves at least two

opposing forces directed towards each other applied to opposite face
of the test sample so that the sample is compressed.
 How does compression strength work?

When an external force is applied to a body, the body generates an

internal resistance known as stress, which can cause changes in the
dimensions, which are known as deformations.

• Resistance to compression (MPa or psi), with an accuracy of 0.1MPa (10 psi).
• Age of the specimen.
• Defects in the refining of the specimen.

Specifications for testing machine:

• The % error shall not exceed ±1.0 percent of the indicated load.
• Should be calibrated with in a period not exceeding 12 months from
previous verification.
Process:
The load as indicated by the testing machine and the applied load
computed from the readings of the verification devices shall be
recorded at each test point.
