WALTER SHEWHART
• “Father of Statistical Quality Control
• -Was a genuine pioneer in the field of
quality control
• -had a strong influence on the thinking of
two other gurus which is W.Edwards
Deming and Joseph Juran


W.EDWARDS DEMING
• -Statistical professor at New York University
• -assisted Japanese in improving quality and
productivity
• -Established the Deming Prize
• -Compiled a famous list of 14 points
JOSEPH M.JURAN
• -Taught Japanese manufacturers how to
improve the quality of their goods
• -believed that management has the
responsibility to correct deficiency
• -Described Quality Management as trilogy
• -Credited as one of the first to measure the
cost of quality, demonstrated the potential
increase profits
ARMAND
FEIGANBAUM
• -instrumental in advancing the
“Cost of nonconformance”
approach
• Recognized that quality was not
simply a collection of tools and
techniques but a “total field”

PHILIP B. CROSBY
-Developed the concept of “Zero Defects”

• -Best known for the Taguchi loss function
