CASE PRESENTATION

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

• My client is a 37 year old female.


• She has a son named who is almost a year old.
• She is also pregnant and is due December 31st.
• She is married and a teacher. She works at a elementary school but has not been
back since she had her first child.
• She is Native American and lives in Rowland, NC.
THE PROCESS

• She is a new client of UNCP Healthy Start.


• Every new client has a few forms to fill out.
• Letter of Agreement
• Picture Release form
• Transportation policy
• Screening tools provided by Human Resources Service Administration
(HRSA)
• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
SERVICES

• This client does not need as many services as other clients do.
• SAFEstart
• Three classes that show mothers car seat safety, CPR/firstaid, and safe sleep.
• At the end of every class, they are given a car seat and a pack and play.

• Good relationship with partner and baby

LIMITATIONS
• High-risk pregnancy because of age

QUESTIONS

1. What are some biases you had going into the interview?

I never know what to expect when you are going into another house or
environment that you have never been in before. I have to be prepared for any
situation and know how to handle each one.

2. What were some value differences between you and the client
Her family values are very different from mine.

3. What events or life experiences have shaped them into the person they are?
She took fertility treatments for a long time. Her and her husband tried to have a
baby for nine years. Hunter is her miracle baby and she has another on the way.

4. What is the staff recommendation about diagnosis, Interventions or treatment?


Recommendation is to continue to have safe and smooth pregnancy with second child and to make
sure she is signed up for the next safestart class
5. What does research say on their diagnosis/problem/treatment?
She needs special monitoring since she is high-risk. She needs to remain consistent with
appointments and check-ups.

6. What changes do recommend for the agency or service (Needs of agency, changes, and rights
issues)? Report those to supervisor.
