The golden gate bridge is a place were people go to commit suicide.

When they
cant find a gun or any other weapon there next choice is to take a leap of faith off
the bridge.
2 much quicker and easier method that people think of to commit suicide is simply shoot
their selves in the head. Some people really don·t want to commit suicide but if you inch
your finger on the trigger it comes very fast and you wont know what hit you.
2 regular kitchen knife can be very deadly, you just have to know the right places
to harm yourself. 2nyone can get their hands on these and regret it.
m
eople who kill themselves see this as the only remaining solution to
their problems.
eople differ in their ability to handle the troubles
that cause such desperate feelings. Many find it difficult to
recognize and solve personal problems in a calm and ordered way.

m Some suicides are the result of impulsive decisions based on a

situation that seems hopeless - loss of a job, divorce, or a breakup
with one's girlfriend or boyfriend. These ´reasonsµ for suicide are not
the actual ´causesµ of the suicide. Rather, they are ´triggersµ for
suicide in a person suffering from a mental illness. Suicide attempts
triggered by major disappointments, such as romantic rejection,
problems with peers, or failing a big exam, are common among
depressed teenagers, who haven't had the life experience to realize
that these ´injuriesµ heal with time.
m inety percent of the people who commit suicide have
a mental or substance abuse disorder (or both). More
than half of the people who kill themselves are seriously
or clinically depressed. 2lthough most depressed
people are not suicidal, most suicidal people are
depressed. Serious depression is considered a medical
illness by the World Health Organization. Serious or major
depression is a long-lasting sadness that doesn't let up
for two weeks or more. In children, depression is often
indicated by irritability.
m Some of the signs of depression are:
m Sadness and crying.
m Feeling tired all the time or complaining of
having no energy.
m Changes in appetite or sleep.
m Loss of interest in doing things.
m Trouble thinking or concentrating.
m Spending more time alone.
m Feeling hopeless or worthless.
m Having suicidal thoughts.
m 2ny one of these symptoms does not necessarily mean the person is
suicidal, but several of these symptoms may signal a need for help:
m ‡ Verbal suicide threats such as, ´You·d be better off without me.µ
or ´Maybe I won·t be around.µ
m ‡ Expressions of hopelessness and helplessness.
m ‡
revious suicide attempts.
m ‡ Daring or risk-taking behavior.
m ‡
ersonality changes.
m ‡ Depression.
m ‡ Giving away prized possessions.
m ‡ Lack of interest in future plans.
m Suicide is the process of purposely
ending one's own life.
m early a million people worldwide commit suicide each year, with anywhere
from 10 million to 20 million suicide attempts annually. 2bout 30,000 people
reportedly kill themselves each year in the United States. The true number of
suicides is likely higher because some deaths that were thought to be an
accident, like a single-car accident, overdose, or shooting, are not
recognized as being a suicide. Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death
in males and the 16th leading cause of death in females. The higher
frequency of completed suicides in males versus females is consistent across
the life span. In the United States, boys 10 to 14 years of age commit suicide
twice as often as their female age peers. Boys 15 to 19 years of age
complete suicide five times as often as girls their age, and men 20 to 24 years
of age commit suicide 10 times as often as women their age. It is the third
leading cause of death for people 10 to 24 years of age. Teen suicide
statistics for adolescents 15 to 19 years of age indicate that from 1950-1990,
the frequency of suicides increased by 300% and from 1990-2003, that rate
decreased by 35%. While the rate of murder-suicide remains low at 0.0001%,
the devastation it creates makes it a concerning public-health issue.
m 2s opposed to suicidal behavior, self-
mutilation is defined as deliberately
hurting oneself without meaning to
cause one's own death. Examples of self-
mutilating behaviors include cutting any
part of the body, usually of the wrists.
Other self-injurious behaviors include self-
burning, head banging, pinching, and
scratching.
m Suggestions for helping people survive suicidal thinking
include engaging the help of a doctor or other health
professional, a spiritual advisor, or by immediately calling a
suicide hotline or going to the closest emergency room or
mental-health crisis center. In order to prevent acting on
thoughts of self-harm, it is often suggested that individuals
who have experienced suicidal thinking keep a written or
mental list of people to call in the event that suicidal
thoughts come back. Other strategies include having
someone hold all medications to prevent overdose,
removing knives, guns, and other weapons from the
home, scheduling stress-relieving activities every day,
getting together with others to prevent isolation, writing
down feelings, including positive ones, and avoiding the
use of alcohol or other drugs.
m Some victims might consider seeing a therapist. Others might be in denial
and not want to see one. But a talk from a close friend of relative can maybe
change the persons mind. They will have a better outlook if its coming from
someone they know or care about.

m *** remember suicide is a serious thing. It needs to be handled with care and
as gently as possible. One thing you say can be stuck in their heads forever
so choose your words wisely.
