GYMNASTICS

IMPORTANTS OF GYMNASTICS
 Is one of the most valuable areas in physical
education because of its total value.
 It deals with the different movements whether in
in place or different direction, skills on the floor,
balance beam, bars, and vault.

 Activities in gymnastics help develop strong,


healthy and shapely bodies.

 It helps an individual gain confidence,


determination, and discipline.
HISTORY OF GYMNASTICS
 = the term GYMNASTICS, derived from a Greek word
“gymnos” meaning naked.

1. JOHANNE BASEDOW (1724 – 1790)
= A German educator who started a program from
the total reform of the educational system.
2. JOHANN FRIEDRICH GUTS MUTHS

OF GYMANSTICS”. He wrote the
book “GYMNASTICS FOR THE YOUNG”
published in 1073. The book became the

= Introduce The Horizontal Bar,
Parallel Bars, side Horse With Pommels,
Balance Beam, Ladder, And Vaulting Horse.

4. FRANZ NACHTEGALL (1772-1847)
