Course Description
This course provides students with comprehensive exposure to the nature,
purpose, functions and utilisation of application tools in different
organisations. It entails a thorough introduction to computers, word
processing, presentation, spreadsheets and database application uses and
functions. It seeks to develop application usage skills in all students and
provide multiple opportunities for students to use them to solve problems in
their everyday life. This course has some theoretical experiences, but the
majority of the contact hours that have been embedded are focused on
providing students with hands-on experiences with these tools.

 This course provides students with lecturer slides for learning and labs for
practicing.

 Students can use the labs when they are available under the supervision
of a lecturer or lab technician.

 Individuals may not have or be able to purchase the software used for
training, but there are alternatives out there such as libre office and wps.

 The library is for research, studying and learning. They also have a café
for student research and provide printing (fees attached).

 Practice questions from tutorials or old past papers, don’t be surprise


when you see one or two in the exam.

 You can assess your course material online on eLearning. This platform is
also used for submitting assessments and relaying of notices concerning
the course.

Tutorial will be done once persons have an college email and are
added to the course.
Ground Rules
 Fill out the front row of the classroom.

 Phones should be off or on silent. If you are expecting an emergency


call, kindly exit the class with minimum disturbance. You will be asked to
leave if your phone disturbs the class.

 Those persons that have to use the wash room, kindly exit the class with
minimum disturbance.

 Person that feel sick and may want to throw up, kindly exit the class with
minimum disturbance and seek medical help from admin.
Ground Rules
 Persons that have an emergency to attend to, kindly notify the lecturer
by raising your hand and indicating : that you have an emergency to
attend to” and exit with minimum disturbance.

 If you have a question or comment raise your hand. If you are shy you
can ask me after class or through email.

 Follow the dress code.

 No fighting in the class.

 No noise when class is in session.

absent from class. If there was a medical emergence then a
letter from a medical doctor should be attached.
